Evergreen and Red

Things are starting to look pretty merry and bright around here, and I may have bought a huge red bow and a wreath for my wall already.  R thinks October is a bit early to start, but when you run a shop, if you don't capitalize on the season early enough, you blink and miss it! So while I originally bought the wreath as a shop listing prop, I plan on keeping it up all season since I think its a "winter" decoration, not just a "Christmas" decoration.  The perks of living alone! So there.

Anyway, I wore this festive outfit out on a date night this past weekend to one of my favorite restaurants in town called Pizzeria Locale.  It's pretty much a super swanky pizza restaurant with an authentic clay oven and the best pizza ever.  I had just finished hemming this evergreen corduroy dress for the shop and couldn't wait to take it out for a test spin before I listed it!  This amazing vintage plaid wool coat is also in the shop now and let's just say I may shed a big fat tear when it sells!
I hope you all are having a wonderful week!

Electric Salmon

The other day at work, somebody asked me what color these shoes were.  I told them I thought they were neon salmon, and R later made the name even better at "electric salmon".  If we ever start a band that's going to be the name.
Outfit details: Sneakers - Nike (gift from R) // Dress - thifted // Top - Volcom // Tights - Marshalls // Scarf - Target // Beanie - H&M
Anyway, I've been wearing sneakers a lot lately because I have a sore foot and my normal footwear seems to make it hurt worse.  While I love sneakers with leggings and other workout attire, I have a hard time styling every day outfits with them!  Does anyone else feel this way? I think the outfit has to have a certain amount of sportiness to it, but as I wore this to work I also didn't want it to look like I was on my way to the gym.  I also wanted it to still feel like "me"! If you guys have styled any cute outfits based around sneakers, share the link in the comments because I would love to check it out for future inspiration! Hope you're all having a great start to the week!

Comical

Boy am I glad Sammi of The Soubrette Brunette joined the Flock Together blog because she is letting us borrow some AMAZING pieces from her closet.  Not to mention she's a total sweetheart! I wore this on Sunday for R's birthday because he loves comic books, but it was of course rainy all day and I was forced to recreate the outfit inside over my lunch break yesterday.

Outfit Details: Dress - borrowed from Sammi // Necklace - c/o Oasap // Shoes - c/o Sole Provisions

This dress is actually quite perfect for both R's and my tastes because the comic is actually about sewing your own dresses! With the addition of a cute cutout back, you can say I am quite smitten.  Thanks so much Sammi for letting me borrow this, and make sure to check out how Sammi styled it on her own blog here!
This is also another little peak into my apartment.  The shelving unit is from Ikea and its what I am now using to organize my vintage inventory instead of having a billion bulky racks! So far it has helped clear up a ton of floor space in small apartment and its definitely been worth the investment!
Hope you're all have a good week!

Chop Chop

Hello!
Well, I would have preferred to show off my new 'do with perhaps a little less wind, but so its goes!  I decided to chop it off on Friday night and then dyed it myself the next morning.  My main reason for dying it is that I am hoping the darker brown will actually fade to closer to my natural dirty blonde color instead of going straight back to the reddish color it has been all summer.  Anyone who has dyed their hair red before in the past... if you have any tips for getting it to NOT be red any more I would love to hear them!
Outfit Details: Blouse - c/o Persunmall // Pinafore & Shoes- vintage // Socks - Target

This weekend was a good one.  I had a friend in town on Friday night so we hit a few different happy hours with delicious cocktails and food.  Then yesterday was R's birthday! We opened presents in the morning, which may or may not have included this pair of batman underwear.  If you have a batman lover in your life, I assure you they'll be a hit.  I mean come on, they have a butt-cape, what more could one want?! After presents we headed to a delicious brunch followed by racing some pretty intense go-karts in Denver, which was also part of what I got him.  We ended the night by ordering pizza and watching a movie, so apart from the crappy weather, it was a great day!
Hope you all have a good start to your week!

Double Whammy

Today you get a double whammy post! And by that I mean both my usual Friday Favorites post along with a few outfit photos too. Lucky you (ha)!  It's been hard to take outfit photos during the week because of the lack of daylight after I get off work, so I snapped these inside my apartment before work one morning.  Sorry for the slightly blurry photos and crummy lighting, but now you get to see a little peak inside my apartment, and of course, a bit of my current foster kitty Pookie too!  I thought it appropriate that she be in a few of these with be since my new blouse from Oasap has a ridiculously awesome sunglasses-wearing-cat peaking out of the pocket.

Anyway, here are a few of my favorite finds from around the internet this week!
  • I often wonder if my lifestyle would be a bit different if I didn't live in such an expensive area.  This buzzfeed article compares two 20-something women who earn similar salaries but live in different parts of the country (a small Texas town vs. Brooklyn, NY).  An interesting read!
  • If you're bored at work, I suggest you check out: 99 Life Hacks that could make your Life easier.  Alight, a lot of them are stupid, but using an empty plastic CD stack case as a bagel holder pretty much made my day.
  • This article from Carrie over at WishWishWish about getting to know the basics of your DSLR camera is really readable if you are just starting out with a new camera!
  • I love this red wine pairings flow chart from Cupcakes and Cashmere.  While I do enjoy a glass of wine, I have absolutely no clue about what wine goes well with what!
  • These Art Nouveau inspired prints of all the Game of Thrones ladies by artist Elin Jonsson are genius!
  • I love me a good before and after makeover picture (who doesn't?!) Apparently however, there is a Reddit debate (discussed here on Jezebel) about a girl's makeup transformation, and men feeling "fooled" by it. In my humble opinion, women can wear however much (or little) makeup as they so please, and those men need to get a life.
  • I always feel kind of fancy eating apples with cheese! This idea of making a cheesy Gruyere apple pie from A Beautiful Mess seems like such an interesting and delicious twist on a classic!

Punkin Chunkin

This past weekend R and I headed down towards Denver to go to an event called Punkin Chunkin.  Basically, people build their own catapults and its a big festival and contest to see who can launch a pumpkin the furthest! In typical fashion, we got there super late and only caught the last launch, but it happened to be the winning one so there's that! We did however manage to shovel huge pizzas, a beer, and some sort of ginormous captain crunch rice crispy bar in our mouths though.
 Outfit Details: Jacket, Shoes & Bag - vintage // Blouse -c/o August Wrinkle // Sweater - thrifted // Leggings- Marshalls // Sunnies - c/o Oasap // Socks - Target

Anyway, since it was outdoors and in a big grassy field I knew that I wanted to be comfortable more than anything else! I will be listing this cute vintage coat in the shop soon, but of course needed to test it out myself first ;)  The leaves around here have been stunning this past week and I am trying to really appreciate them while they last!  In the next few weeks I will probably have to dig out my down parka from under my bed, and then there's no going back!  I will live in it all winter.
Hope everyone is having a wonderful week so far!

Berry Red

Hello hello!
I am going to keep this short and sweet today.  Just a simple outfit I wore to stay warm and cozy last weekend. And to demonstrate my tree climbing abilities.
Outfit Details: Sweater - Vintage, for sale in the shop here! //  Shoes - vintage //
Pants & Scarf - Target // Sunnies - Lulu*s // Plaid Shirt - unsure

I am trying to fill the shop with a bunch of cute and cozy sweaters including the one you see here.  Lately I have been all about comfort.  I have been ditching my favorite dresses in exchange for pants with comfortable layers on top.  I had  a bit of a health scare this weekend and I am completely fine now but I am trying to take it easy! Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend!
