Friday Favorite Finds {Vol. 8}

Hi guys! It's been quite awhile since I have done a Friday Favorites post, but I found myself pinning a bunch of stuff lately so it seemed like a good time!

I guess I will start with my favorite style inspirations in the recent weeks.  I have been loving super casual looks with pants or overalls, as its now too snowy and freezing to pull off a dress outside.  Signe of Signeroo and Bonnie of Flashes of Style  have both been pulling off amazing winter outfits lately!

During the winter it is really easy for me to get stuck in the rut of always being indoors in front of my computer snacking on junk food.  I am going to try to start cooking more to inspire me to eat healthier meals, and I think these quinoa stuffed peppers would be a great place to start!

I have also been bit with the housing bug again and even though I love my current apartment, I love scrolling through places on craigslist and looking at inspiring homes on Design Sponge.  I think it would be so fun to have loft bedroom like this Portland home and I am loving the simplicity of this beautiful San Francisco Kitchen!

I am still loving clothing and accessories with southwestern vibes like this blouse from my vintage shop, these Strappy Heels from Lulusthese amazing Free People socks.

Tis the season for heart print clothing! I would love this heart print blouse to wear under a pinafore and this graphic heart tee would look so cute with high waisted cutoffs and black tights!

I am not sure if I ever posted about these before, but I am currently in the market for finding a new desk chair while thrifting that I can give a little makeover to.  I love this painted chair DIY from Mamie Boude!

Last but definitely not least, I was interviewed by Jessica of Midwest Muse about going full time with my vintage shop yesterday and if you would like to read the article, you should head over to her blog!

I will be spending a mellow weekend probably mostly indoors due to snow.  I hope to do a little cooking and start getting a little work done on my taxes *sigh*.  If you are also a small business owner, this article on bookkeeping and this one on tax write offs for small business owners might be helpful for you as well!  Have a great weekend!

Geo Pastoral

Geo-pastoral.  Oh, you didn't know that was a thing? Well, its when you wear a very geometric or mod printed item of clothing in a pastoral or country like setting to create a clash.  But, I obviously just made it up. Now when you see it in all of the Fall 2014 lookbooks you know who the source was.

Outfit Details: Dress - 1960s Vintage, on sale in the shop here! // Boots - Vintage - for sale in the shop here! //Hat- Eddie Bauer (mens) // Tights - Target

On the way back from brunch last weekend, I almost jumped out of a moving vehicle when I saw this gorgeous barn in the distance I was so excited.  While I love clothes and styling outfits, what I love more about taking photos for the blog is if you can make somewhat of an exploration or adventure out of it.  Jumping out of the car to be outside for even only 15 minutes to walk along a country road or through the woods is really so refreshing!
I hope you're all having a wonderful week!

Sun vs. Snow

Well let's just say sitting here editing my last outfit photos from Hawaii in the middle of a snowstorm here in Colorado has been a bit of a tease! I have been home for a little over a week now and I am finding it amazing how quickly vacation seems like a distant memory upon return to the real world.  That said,  I am actually happy to be back to work on the shop and even covered in snow, I really love where I live so its not so bad!

Outfit Details: Dress + Sunglasses - gifts from my mom // Heels- Marshalls

It's safe to say this whole outfit is pretty much from my mom!  The palm frond dress was a Christmas gift that matched all the surrounding tropical foliage perfectly. The sunglasses are my favorites ever which she found for me while we were shopping at a grocery store, and the little envelope necklace I was just borrowing from her for the night.
Anyway, I'm off to convince myself to get my butt to my new gym in the snow and then hem and fix up a bajillion awesome pieces of vintage I found this weekend for the shop!

Lilac + Plaid

I am twenty-seven years old and received a fuzzy purple unicorn backpack from my brother for Christmas - he knows me so well! To make things even creepier, I unknowingly took these photos yesterday behind an elementary school right as school was letting out.  HERE KIDDY KIDDIES! I've got lots of candy in this pack! Whoops.
Outfit Details: Dress - c/o American Apparel // Plaid Shirt - B.B. Vintage, for sale in the shop here! Unicorn Backpack - gift from my brother // Boots - thrifted // Hat - Eddie Bauer (men's section!)

Anyway, I styled this outfit for my post over on the Flock Together blog today, so you can stop by to see all of the other ways I have remixed this lilac American Apparel number! The hat I found this weekend while wandering into shops while waiting for a movie with R.  It is from the men's section of Eddie Bauer, a store I never go in and will probably continue to never go in because the sales lady was super snobby.  But anyway, its my dream hat and it was on sale for half off! I apologize in advance for how much you will probably be seeing it now.  And if you follow me on instagram, you saw that I finally decided what to do with the ugly white walls around my bed - a hat wall! If you guys would be interested of seeing more of my little studio apartment, let me know and I'll try and work on a little home tour to share :)
Have a great weekend!

Hapuna Beach

Good thing I am running out of Hawaii posts because I am getting a bit teary eyed having to edit pictures of warm tropical beaches! Though I shouldn't be complaining, because its been in the 50s and 60s here in Colorado since I flew home on Saturday, and those are temperatures I can definitely get behind for mid January!
Outfit Details: Blouse - gift from my Aunt (thrifted) // Shorts - vintage/ thrifted //
Sunnies - gift from mom (found at KTA grocery store)! // (*Outfit photos by my mom)

This beach called Hapuna is one of my favorite beaches ever.  While Hawaii has a ton of beautiful types of beaches with black sand, green sand, rocks, and coral, I will always be a sucker for a huge expanse of white sand stretching on endlessly.
My aunt who now lives on the Hilo side of the big island surprised me with the adorable Hawaiian shirt that she thrifted for me.  While some Aloha shirts can be a bit in your face, this pale yellow sleeveless number won be over immediately.  It's always nice for me that Hawaii is not only a wonderful vacation, but also a chance to visit with some family I rarely get to see!
Hope you're all having a great week, I'm finally starting to get back into the swing of things over here and its actually feeling pretty good!

Tropical Cutouts

Here comes the hardest Hawaii posts to put up- the ones that I still have to post after I've returned to Colorado! These were taken back when we were in Maui and on our way out to dinner!
Outfit Details: Dress - Baked x Stone Fox Swim via Swell // Shawl - gift from my mom

Tomorrow its back to real life working on the shop, unpacking, and getting my life back in order.   But at least I still have these warm pictures and fun memories to keep looking back on! This dress I won in a contest from Swell, and it is the perfect easy piece to throw on.  I paired it with a beautiful crochet shawl my mom bought from a little grandmother making it in Italy! R is wearing a fruit print shirt I actually bought for my dad for Christmas but it didn't end up fitting.  Anyway, cheers to getting my life back on track and trying to snap out of vacation mode!

Candy Necklace

It is my last day here in Hawaii (which my family is not allowed to mention out loud so they say its your "L.D" or "mmm-mm day").  I am excited to be reunited with R back in Colorado, but besides that I think I could stay forever, or at least until the Colorado winter is over!

 Outfit Details: Dress - H&M // Necklace & Earrings- c/o Oasap // Heels - Marshalls

Anyway, this little white dress has been really easy to throw on for beach days, going out to dinner, or really anything here.  The bougainvillea bushes here so gorgeous and they grow everywhere.  I paired it with a bright and cheery new necklace from Oasap which reminds me of candy.  A big thanks to my mom with helping me with photos while I am here too.  Soon it will be back to throwing my down jacket off for a few seconds to try to get an outfit shot before I freeze!
Have a wonderful (and hopefully long) weekend!
