Plaid Barn

Lately I have been choosing my work clothes by "what wouldn't I mind getting poop on".   So needless to say, it felt pretty good to get dressed in something other than my animal shelter clothes for a day!

I finally finished painting and organizing my office in the new place on my day off and it feels so nice to have one space that is unpacked and looking the way I want it to.  The rest of the house in coming along too, but all of the newness between the house and job has been pretty overwhelming.  I'm excited to finally start feeling settled.  How have all of you guys been, I miss you!

Sunny Yellow

Just hangin' in the back yard in the 90 something degree weather yesterday! When I was editing these, I actually could see mosquitos zooming around me in the photos, yuck.  I love our yard this time of year, but those little suckers sure do put a damper on things.

Wedges - thrifted

Both the sunny yellow dress and the handmade crown are available in the shop right now! I wasn't expecting to like this dress so much until I put it on to shoot it - yellow is just such a happy color and it was super comfortable to boot.
Life lately has consisted of chasing after my wilding foster kittens, working on summer items for the shop, and really just enjoying the sunshine that's finally arrived! Hope you're having a good week!

In other news, I am excited to be starting a Braided Bandit monthly newsletter to help announce special sales, the best new vintage, and give you guys a little behind the scenes look of what I have been working on!  If you are interested in being added to the mailing list, there's a new sign up in the left sidebar of the blog where you just add your name and email (I think you have to be in the full site version to see it, not the mobile site).  Or, feel free to comment "I'm in!" below with your email and I will add you! If there is anything in particular you would be interested in hearing about, please let me know in the comments because I would love your input!

Hair - Arctic Fox in Aquamarine

As most of you probably already saw last week on instagram, my hair is now aqua! Its so fun wearing one of my all time favorite colors on my head and scaring all the grandmas at the grocery store (and R.)  Its not permanent and will wash out over the next month or so.  Even though its not for everyone, I love it and I've had so much fun getting a little more daring with my looks and personal style over the past few years of blogging, because seriously if you can, why not?  If any of you guys are interested I used Arctic Fox hair dye in Aquamarine, and diluted it with their Arctic Mist color and about a cup of white conditioner to get a more pastel aqua.  The dye itself is vegan and non-damaging to your hair and best of all, 15% of their profits go to animal welfare programs.  It is the best of all of the dyes that I have tried so far, and I would highly recommend Arctic Fox to anyone!  If you have any questions about the process, I would be happy to try and help in the comment section!
Anyway, two of my friends from high school are in town for some snowboarding, and I'm so excited to meet up with them in Denver tonight!  Happy Friday & I hope you guys have an amazing weekend!

Shades of Grey

This outfit reminds me of my friend michelle because grey and pink is her jam.  Do you have any color combinations that remind you of specific people?

I am getting really excited about our little trip to Charleston this weekend. Still taking any recommendations if you guys have any!
Also, I am going to open a little shop my closet site for non vintage items of mine in the next week or so.  I am going to do it on instagram and then one place online.  Have you guys ever done a closet shop, and if so, which site would you recommend using for it?  These pink bait footwear heels will be part of the sale and they've only been worn a handful of times and are in great condition (size 8.5). Thanks guys, hope you're having a warm and productive week!

The Braided Bandit x Shear Bliss Salon

Hi guys!  I am just stopping in with a super quick post today with some photos of Shear Bliss Studios, where I started locally selling vintage about a month ago!  What started as a haircut with one of the salon owners, Whitney, turned into a fun business collaboration that I am super excited about. Whitney had wanted more of a boutique vibe for her salon where people could shop and relax before and after their hair appointments, and I had been thinking about a brick and mortar selling location for my vintage, so it was really the perfect opportunity!

It is so fun to see the rack of fun vintage colors and prints against the beautiful colored walls of the salon.  We are also hoping to plan a fun pop-up shop and maybe even a holiday party in the near future!  So for any Coloradans reading this, I highly recommend stopping in for an amazing haircut at Shear Bliss Studios, and make sure to take a peak at the pretty vintage clothing up front that will be restocked often!

Sail Away {Makeover Monday}

Hi guys! It's been quite awhile since I showed a little makeover here on the blog!  While I do small alterations to most of the vintage I sell in the shop, 99% of the time I am working on a large pile of clothes at once and always forget to take before pictures!  For this darling sailor dress, I actually remember to take  before and after though, so without further adieu...
So, the dress was pretty darn cute to begin with but the length and sleeves felt a bit frumpy.  I altered the hem and sleeves to make it a bit more modern and wearable.  What do ya think?!  It's now listed for sale in the shop here if you're interested!

I also want to say a great big HAPPY BIRTHDAY to R today! We went to the Denver zoo yesterday for an early celebration and the zoo people let him in for free, gave him a birthday pin, and even a certificate for free ice cream! I can't wait until he gets home from work so he can open presents!

Anyway, lots to do before we leave on our big Italy trip on Thursday!  I hope you're all having a great start to you week!  Oh and if you haven't entered my cardigan giveaway yet, please do so here!  We need about ten more entries for it to count! Thanks guys!

Paper Doll Style

Hi guys! I'm here with a super fun little collaboration I did with blogger Hannah of An Old Story. Not only do we share the same name, but Hannah and I also have blogs and our own Etsy shops - twinsies! Hannah reached out to me last month proposing an awesome collaboration called The Paper Doll Project.  Basically, we got to play stylist for each other by coming up with an outfit for the other person based on items they already own and have worn on their blog.

Vintage Pinafore - in the shop here!
Vintage Blouse - sold out
Hat - Eddie Bauer
Boots - DSW

This is the outfit she put together for me!  It was perfect for a mini mountain roadtrip R and I took a few weekends ago to see all of the changing leaves, which were beautiful.  My hair was also still tinged pink here and I miss it, though I am going to keep it natural until after I get back from vacation and start experimenting again.

It was so much fun going through Hannah's blog posts and facebook albums and choosing pieces from her wardrobe to style an outfit with.  It definitely was like a real life paper doll! Make sure to stop by Hannah's blog An Old Story to see the outfit I styled for her here!
You can also find Hannah on her Etsy Shop & Instagram.
