Good Morning! Hope you guys are having a sunny and productive week so far. I've been shooting lots of new vintage for the shop, all while trying to not be distracted by living with kitty again (and failing). My phone is going to quickly run out of storage at the rate I'm going, stopping my work every five minutes to snap a photo of whatever Lilikoi is doing. But I mean, look at that face! Even R, who has always been a dog person his whole life, is becoming a proud cat-dad. He and I coo and cluck at the cat likes crazed idiots to compete to see who she will come to first for the prized title of "who Lilikoi currently loves more"...
Okay, done with the cat lady tirade (for this post at least) and onto the outfit. I kept this beautiful vintage dress in my collection of cream colored dresses that I hoard for myself for no reason for about two years, but finally decided to be nice and share, so you can find it in the shop here. I will be adding a bunch of new dresses over the next couple of days as well, so keep your eyes peeled! Hope you guys have an awesome day!

Hello!
I am finally back to the daily grind in Colorado after an overnight flight from Kauai and a weird day of sleepy limbo here yesterday. Leaving Hawaii is always really awful, but the semblance of normalcy of sitting here writing a blog post with a cup of coffee before heading up to my office to start shop work actually feels kind of nice. These past few months have been such a whirlwind of travel, work, and various holidays, but sometimes its nice to just thrive on the comfort of a daily routine.
These photos were snapped when R and I brought a few beers down to Hanalei bay to catch the sunset before dinner. Hanalei is one of my favorite beaches in the world, and is almost always covered in a fine layer of mist. The beautiful scenery and simple way of dressing there definitely renewed my passion for blogging for the time being. I've got a few more tropical posts lined up until its back to winter dressing (ugh). I am going to try to catch up on all of your blogs too, can't wait to see what everyone has been up to!

Wahoo, the first edition of my travel journal from Italy! The pile of photos I have from the trip is a bit daunting, so I am going to break it down into all of the different locations we stayed at. The first stop on on trip was Sorrento, and these photos are from a day trip we took to the ancient city ruins of Pompeii.
A little history. In 79 AD, the city of pompeii was largely destroyed and buried under volcanic ash from the eruption of Mount Vesuvius (which you can see in the background of a lot of these photos). The city was lost for about 1,500 years while buried under the layers of ash, which helped to block out air and moisture and preserve the city in its original condition. The city was later re-discovered and excavated, and now is one of Italy's most popular tourist attractions.
It was amazing wondering around such an old place, and even the human bodies (which you can see third photo from the bottom) are still preserved. The highlights for me included getting to walk inside all of the dwellings, seeing a preserved puppy, and last but not least, the famous whorehouse where you could see the ancient paintings above each room that people would "order" off of like a menu back in the ancient city!
As for what I wore throughout my trip, I only packed one large backpack for the whole two weeks, so staying comfortable and mobile were my main two objectives! If you are planning a trip with a lot of walking, I ended up loving these New Balance 420s which I got right before the trip. I added a jelly Dr. Scholl's insert to the bottom and basically wore these exclusively the whole time. Plus, they're cute!
I unfortunately didn't take any photos on my real DSLR camera of Sorrento, but you can see a few phone shots on instagram, like this amazing happy hour with a view of Mt. Vesuvius!
One of the best parts of coming back from a trip however, is opening all the mail and packages that arrived while you were gone. I was super excited to have this tribal sweater and these boots waiting for me, especially since I had been living out of a backpack for my two weeks in Italy! I loved how well the sweater matched my beaded bracelet from Mitla Moda too! I wore this when R and I grabbed lunch on a beautiful unseasonably warm day yesterday, which was the perfect welcome home before the FREEZING cold sets in later (I'm talking 72 yesterday, 16 degrees tomorrow!)
As for my trip, I absolutely loved Italy and would go back in a heartbeat! We saw so many beautiful places I can hardly even fathom how we did so much in such a short amount of time. Also the food. Wine and pasta. Wine and pizza. Pizza with pasta. Wine with more wine. I plan to do multiple posts on my trip after I get done going through all of my photos, but I thought I would start back up with a regular outfit posts because its been FOREVER! I also want to say a huge thanks to the lovely ladies who guest posted for my travel series while I was gone. It really helped me enjoy my vacation more not having to carry around a laptop or worry about putting posts up!
p.s. If anyone is currently doing a good cleanse, eating, or exercise challenge right now, please do share! Let's just say eating pasta and pizza almost exclusively in Italy catches up with you and I would love some motivation to be a bit healthier!
I wrote this post in advance before I left, but I will finally be arriving in Italy right about now! After sixteen hours of travel, I am surely exhausted but super excited. R and I arrived in Naples and meet my parents who are already there to take a ferry to Sorrento. We will be staying in cute apartments we are renting from local people and will be moving from place to place every few days.
I thought it would be appropriate to wear this picturesque dress with the Italian coast on it for a day of packing and errand running right before I left! Don't worry, I didn't actually bring it with me to wear... even I have my limits of "liking to match the scenery." I won't have my computer with me while I'm here so I will not be posting my regular outfits, but I DO have an amazing series of quest bloggers lined up for you guys, so stay tuned. And if you would like to follow along with my Italian adventure, you can follow me on instagram!

Hip hip hooray its giveaway time! I am super excited to bring you a giveaway I am co-hosting with the fashion brand Oasap for a lucky winner to choose a cozy cardigan from their store! The reason I am so excited about this particular giveaway is that I own a tribal cardigan from Oasap that's really similar to the ones they are giving away, and I wear it ALL the time in the cooler months. Its both comfortable and cute and has held up great even though I seriously wore it about three times a week last winter!
Okay, so here are the details:
All you have to do to enter is to head on over to Oasap and register for an account. You can opt for receiving emails from them or not by checking the little box, and if you decide you do not want an account anymore you can easily unsubscribe at any time! Use the rafflecopter widget below to enter, and make sure to leave a comment with what email you are registered with! There are also a few easy additional steps you can do for extra entries!
The winner gets to choose from one one of these three sweaters:
The giveaway needs at least 50 participants for a winner to be chosen, and the giveaway is open internationally! Good luck guys, I wish I could enter because I love all three of these sweaters! :)
So here's the story of these overalls. The short version is that when I ordered these, I thought they were going to have a loose casual fit and they turned out to be quitefitted instead.
The long version is: About a month ago, I got it in my head that I NEEDED a pair of "skinny" overalls with a more tapered leg after seeing them on some of my favorite bloggers. I actually ordered a pair, paid for it, and then was told later that they were out of stock. How to companies sell things that are out of stock? Isn't that's what computer inventory systems, etc., are for?! Anyway, I grumpily turned to ebay to search for an afforable pair and landed on what looked perfect, except that it was from China and I never know what size to get (when in doubt, the largest one possible). Which is what I did. So, I then waited a patient (HA) three weeks for my XL overalls in the mail, checking the tracking progress, oh you know, at least once a day. So, they finally arrived this week and it was like Christmas morning, which is how it is when anything I order off the internet and then wait a long time for arrives. I ran upstairs to try them on, and lets just say the "slouchy-cool" fit that the model in the picture showed was NOT how these bad boys looked on me. At all. Let's just say I felt like a stuffed pork sausage in my new XL overalls and ripped them off and decided I hated them.
Fast forward a day or two and I decided I'd give them a second shot to run some errands. And lo and behold, this set of photos is actually my favorite outfit in awhile. When I finally decided to put them back on without the image of how they looked on the model in my head and tried to embrace (ok tolerate) my hips and thighs, I felt so much better! But let's just say there won't be any back-end views of me wearing these quite yet on the internet.
Does this ever happen to you, especially after ordering things online? Its so easy to get it in your head that you don't measure up in some way to things you see in the media. As they say, comparison is the thief of joy! But I think its super important to remind yourself that whatever thoughts of jealousy or longing you are having about something you see in someone else's life, someone else may be having those same thoughts about YOUR life!
Thanks for listening to my rant guys. I hope you have a wonderful weekend!
