Makeover Monday: Denim Jumper

Just stopping in really quick to share a little vintage makeover from a few weeks back!  I love how simply taking up the hem of a dress makes it a whole new piece.  This denim pinafore is actually on its way to Norway now!  Wish I could follow my vintage all over the world!
Have a great start to your week!

Makeover Monday (on a Tuesday)

It's makeover Monday... on a Tuesday! Whoops, guess I dropped the ball on that one.

I loved the lavender color and little floral print on this set, but it was a bit too "grandmother dressed for Sunday Mass" in its before state.  So, I cropped both the top and the skirt to make it more modern, and then added a yellow pom pom trim for a bit of fun!

Anyway, this week is not my favorite so far, but I'm hoping it can just go up from here! Nothing a little dose of sunshine can't fix!

Makeover Monday: Tropical Peach

It's been awhile since I've done a makeover monday post! With summer quick approaching, I have been doing alterations to a ton of vintage sets for the shop, which are my favorite!  This set started out as capris with little jeweled dangles on the leg and a normal length blouse.  I went ahead and made it into shorts and a crop top instead, and while I was going to originally add my signature pom pom trim, I thought this set was cute enough alone without it!

Anyway, we finally had a beautiful hot and sunny weekend here.  We didn't really do anything special, but spent lots of time outside in the yard, which was perfect!  Hope you guys had a good one too!

Sail Away {Makeover Monday}

Hi guys! It's been quite awhile since I showed a little makeover here on the blog!  While I do small alterations to most of the vintage I sell in the shop, 99% of the time I am working on a large pile of clothes at once and always forget to take before pictures!  For this darling sailor dress, I actually remember to take  before and after though, so without further adieu...
 So, the dress was pretty darn cute to begin with but the length and sleeves felt a bit frumpy.  I altered the hem and sleeves to make it a bit more modern and wearable.  What do ya think?!  It's now listed for sale in the shop here if you're interested!

I also want to say a great big HAPPY BIRTHDAY to R today! We went to the Denver zoo yesterday for an early celebration and the zoo people let him in for free, gave him a birthday pin, and even a certificate for free ice cream! I can't wait until he gets home from work so he can open presents!

Anyway, lots to do before we leave on our big Italy trip on Thursday!  I hope you're all having a great start to you week!  Oh and if you haven't entered my cardigan giveaway yet, please do so here!  We need about ten more entries for it to count! Thanks guys!

In the Navy {Makeover Monday}

Hello! Hope everyone is having a beautiful Memorial day relaxing with loved ones!

For this week's Makeover Monday, I took a capri and oversized blouse set and made them into shorts and a crop top.  I decided to style just the shorts for this post, as I wanted it to be a little different from the jungle set I made for last week's makeover!  The set will be in the shop this week!

Outfit Details:
Embroidered Shorts - In the shop this week!
Yellow Sunnies - ZeroUV
Vintage Canvas Shoes - In the shop here!
Coach Purse - Vintage/ thrifted
White Tank - Forever 21

I kept this outfit really low key as we were once again packing and moving some boxes over to R's mom's garage.  What drew me to this set in the first place was the beautiful stitching on the blouse and on the pockets of the shorts.  I love how these sets can be worn together or as separates too! The embroidered blouse would look so cute with a pair of denim high waisted shorts as well.

Also, this bag.... I'm not sure if I will be able to part with it!  I found it this weekend and its the first vintage coach bag I have ever come across in my weekend treasure hunting! It will be up in the shop if I can manage to pry it from my own fingers ;)

Lastly, I was super excited to see one of my favorite bloggers, Steffy of Steffy's Pros and Cons, wearing the vintage dress I sent her on the blog today.  I am also sharing a 30% off discount code for the shop over on her blog, so stop by and say hello!

Jungle Fever {Makeover Monday!}

Hello and happy Monday! Hope you guys are ready for another little clothing makeover I did recently!

Sometimes when I am on the hunt for vintage treasures for the shop, I spot something that is quite frumpy in its current form, but then an idea pops into my head about how to spruce it up for the modern day gal.  So was the case with this Jungle Parrot print blouse and shorts set.  I instantly fell in love with the wild print and knew it would look even cuter as a crop top and high waisted shorts set.  Then, the idea to add pom pom fringe came to me and the rest is crazy.  Beware, this makeover is not for the feint of heart ;)

Vintage Oxfords - for sale in the shop here!
Sunnies - Lulu*s

    Anyway, this outfit may be more appropriate for a tropical beach than the mountain road trip we took this weekend, but you've got to work with what you've got.  And here in Colorado, there's no beach in sight (unfortunately).  To do this makeover, I took up the length of the blouse and the shorts a few inches each, hemmed them on my sewing machine, and then added the pom pom fringe mostly by hand, since my sewing machine wasn't being very cooperative.  I got the pom poms from Jo Ann Fabrics, and now am thinking about a whole line of cute crop top with pom pom fringe for the shop.  What do you guys think? If only I could figure out how to make my machine cooperate with the thick materials a bit more, because this took me hours and hours to do by hand!

     This set should be up in the shop later this week!  And in other exciting news, I am doing a giveaway over on Southern (California) Belle today!  The winner will get a custom designed floral crown in the colors and size of their choice, handmade by me! All you have to do to enter is be a follower of this blog, so head on over to enter here!

Makeover Monday

It's been awhile since I did a Makeover Monday post here!  I thought I would share a cute little makeover I did this past week on a vintage shorts set I bought for the shop.  Recently, I have been looking for sets for the shop, and want it chock full of cute cropped tops and spring items!  When I spied the safari animal print on this set on the racks, I knew it had potential but it was very frumpy in its original state.  So here you have it: the makeover!

To do this makeover, I took up the length of both the shorts and the blouse and then hemmed them.  I also took up the sleeve length a bit after I was done because the original sleeves didn't look quite right on the new cropped top.
The set will be in the shop later this afternoon :)  Have you ever given a makeover to a piece of clothing? I would love to hear more about it!

Makeover Monday (and RED hair!)

Hello! So, the makeover part of this post is actually referring to me altering a piece of clothing for my "Makeover Monday" series, but my hair got a bit of a makeover too this weekend- I am finally a red head!  I have been wanting to dye it for months but I am a big chicken.  I am so happy I finally took the leap because I am already having so much fun with it!

     As for the shorts, I found them at a thrift store a few weeks ago and really loved the striped denim but the dowdy 80s length did nothing for me.  I decided to take up the length by about 5 inches and now they're perfect for summer.

Outfit Details: Blouse - c/o Oasap // Shorts - vintage, altered // Hair Tie - gift //

     These were taken at R's new place which has pretty green areas and flowers all over the grounds.  I just received this fun blouse from Oasap and I think the print is so fun, it looks like a bunch of little colorful birthday hats!  R's sister sent me the adorable hair tie as the sweetest little surprise gift and I love it! It has wire inside so all you have to do is twist it in place and voila!
    I got my wish and spent yesterday eating chips and salsa, drinking margaritas, and lounging by the pool.  Hopefully now I am ready to tackle these 12 days of work in a row!
