Giving Thanks

Hi guys! I'm feeling pretty ready for a cozy holiday tomorrow how about you?  I have to go in to work in the morning (the shelter animals need to eat too on this holiday!) and then we are headed to R's moms for a super low key day of eating and relaxing.  Also, I can't wait to put up our little baby christmas tree.
Outfit Details:
Dress + Coat - Vintage/ thrifted
Boots + Tights- Target
Bow - Blackberry Maverick

I know this next month is just going to fly by!  With thanksgiving, my birthday next week, holiday gatherings, and then a flight home to NJ for Christmas, it's going to be quite the whirlwind.  I hope you guys have a wonderful Thanksgiving tomorrow!

p.s. COLORADO FRIENDS! Have you guys heard of the 1940s & 50s White Christmas Ball that takes place in Denver on December 5th?  It's an awesome event where you get to don your best vintage holiday frock, dance, and mingle!  You can check out the website here and let me know if you think you'll be going, I think I'll be there!

Plaid Barn

Lately I have been choosing my work clothes by "what wouldn't I mind getting poop on".   So needless to say, it felt pretty good to get dressed in something other than my animal shelter clothes for a day!
Outfit Details
Vintage Dress - for sale in the shop here!
Boots - Ariat (thrifted)

I finally finished painting and organizing my office in the new place on my day off and it feels so nice to have one space that is unpacked and looking the way I want it to.  The rest of the house in coming along too, but all of the newness between the house and job has been pretty overwhelming.  I'm excited to finally start feeling settled.  How have all of you guys been, I miss you!

Spring Layers

Hi friends! With the constant rain we've been having this week and R being out of town for work, its been difficult to get outfit pictures taken, but there was finally a short break in the weather yesterday! Whenever I have to take my own blog photos in a public setting, I always pretend to be taking pictures of the scenery whenever a car passes haha. Move along now, nothing to see here!
Outfit Details:
Sweatshirt - similar here
Jacket - L.L. Bean
Plaid Shirt - similar here
Skirt - Vintage
Necklace - handmade (similar in the shop!)
Shoes - Similar here

Hoping it clears up today more because I have tons of pretty new vintage to shoot for the shop today! In other news, I bought this book the other week and have been doing the 10 day green smoothie cleanse this week.  I just kept on piling awful crap into my mouth and felt I needed a kickstart to a more healthy, positive change.  I am now on day 8 of the cleanse, and while I don't know my actual results yet in terms of weight loss or anything, I've really liked it so far.  (Okay, well I've hated the whole not eating delicious burritos and solid foods part, but I think its a good cleanse and has very easy, doable guidelines and recipes to follow for the ten days.)  I bought the digital version of the book but wish I had bought the paperback because I always have to bring my tablet into the kitchen and scroll through the recipes in the morning with it, whereas it would be easier to just have a book to leave out down there.  Anyway, I'd be happy to talk about it more in a future post if anyone is interested, or feel free to leave a comment with any questions!  Three more days and I can have COFFEE again wahooo!

A Tale of Two Dresses

Sometimes having a vintage shop is hard, because sometimes you have to put things that you want for yourself into the shop and sell it. And by sometimes, I mean all the time.  But there are definitely pieces that pull my heartstrings when they sell more than others!  So, back in 2012 I found the perfect red and green plaid dress and hemmed it into a babydoll.  I put it in the shop and it sold immediately, and I remember for a long time wishing I had kept it.  A few weeks ago, I stumbled upon the same dress in the thrift store, hemmed this one into a babydoll too, and ITS MINE!  Now me and a sweet customer in Hong Kong are dress twins.

Outfit Details
Dress - Vintage/ altered
Hat - Forever21
Boots- thrifted
Bow - sash from a dress

Sorry, maybe that wasn't a very good story, but you have to love some good thrifting karma!  I also took a tip from Tonya and "put a bow on it".  And while lately I have been leaning more towards more casual pants looks, I have to admit it was fun to throw a vintage dress and boots on again.  And speaking of vintage, if you have had an eye on anything in the shop, you should definitely head over and check it out again because I lowered the price on almost everything, and also added a ton of stuff to the $10 sale section!  Hope you all had a great weekend, and hopefully if you're in the US you even have the day off today as well!

Checker Out

If I were going back to school, this is what I'd want to be wearing.  Instead I wore it out for a low key date night grabbing Italian food and heading to a local Speakeasy bar for some pumpkin beer and pool!

Outfit Details
Vintage Dress - for sale in the shop here!
Vintage Boots - for sale in the shop here!
Varsity Jacket - Forever 21 (similar)

I love this outfit, its another one where I feel very me.  Mixing a vintage dress (which is now in the shop) with a more edgy/modern jacket like this Varsity one from Forever 21 is what I feel the most comfortable in.  I'm really wanting this maroon version of the jacket too now!  And these boots, ugh.  They are currently listed in the shop for quite the steal of a price ($25!) because they show some serious signs of wear/ peeling on the inside but they are amazing on the outside.  I am once again tempted to go ahead and take down the listing and squirrel them away for myself.  But alas, if I did that with everything I wanted to keep, this dress and these boots included, I wouldn't have much of a business haha!

I hope you are all having a great start to your week!

Sunset Plaid

There's nothing like wearing a psychedelic vintage plaid twin set in the middle of a wind tunnel in the blazing heat!  I LOVE this set that I did a little makeover to that is for sale in the shop, but my windswept hair is less like a shampoo commercial and more like a disaster stuck to my lipgloss.  Also, there were about 10,000 prairie dogs (or P-dogs as I like to refer to them as) barking angrily at me as I took these.  Just to set the mood for what is usually going on behind the scenes in my photos!

90s Canvas Shoes - for sale in the shop here!
Pink Sunnies - c/o Sunglass Warehouse

It's getting to that point in the summer that I start to feel a bit panicky about my weekends and all of the fun stuff I want to do that you can only do in summer.  I want to go to an amusements park or water park, the zoo, the reservoir, picnics... the list goes on and on but time is flying by!

Do you have any good weekend plans? Have fun!

Team Spirit

Just stopping in quickly to say hello!  I have a bit too much on my plate today though so I must keep this short!  Also, please disregard my awkward swoop hairdo, courtesy of the wind.
Outfit Details: Dress - Vintage, for sale in shop here! // Toggle Coat - Vintage, coming soon to shop! Boots & Leggings- Marshalls // Scarf - Gift from friend

I wore the pretty vintage plaid dress from the shop to a hockey game this weekend with R and the people from his office.  The maroon dress was an ode to the Colorado Avalanche team colors without actually having to wear a jersey.  The effort was probably lost on most.  We had an awesome club box courtesy of Rob's graphic design office stocked with food and beer so it was a fun night out!  Unfortunately, the Avs lost, but for me the free food and beer  and awesome view obviously made up for the poor game!
Hope you all are having a good week! I am so excited for the upcoming holidays!
