Kilauea Lighthouse

Aloha & Happy Friday!
Yesterday, we took an inter-island flight to Oahu and then drove to the North Shore to the house we are renting for the week.  These pictures, however, are from our last day on Kauai when we drove to Kilauea Lighthouse and wildlife refuge.  Though the weather was not the greatest, the lighthouse itself was still beautiful and the views were even better along the coastline.  There were multiple species of seabirds flying around and we even got to see the Hawaiian Nene goose and its babies.  Heres a fun fact.  When we used to visit Hawaii when we were kids, my brother Noah saw a Nene goose and decided he would not respond to any other name but "Nene" from then on.  To this day I still call my brother "Nini" or "bird" more than his actual name!

Outfit Details:
Floral Crown: DIY
Lace Top: Vintage
Shorts: Thrifted
Glasses: Firmoo
Anyway, I got this adorable Modcloth sweater from my wishlist for Christmas and I absolutely love it!  I had to wear my yellow floral crown to match the braided yellow piping on the sweater and decided on a little black and white print mixing as well.  I rarely wear shorts as I usually prefer a comfy sun dress, but it was a welcome change, especially on such a windy day.  And speaking of wind, our new place on Oahu is RIGHT on the beach, but its been so windy that its kind of scary to even go outside.  I hope the weather lets up for this last part of vacation! Wishing you all a happy Friday and a great weekend! Any fun plans for the first weekend of the new year?

  1. AHHH !!!! I need those shorts?!!? Also, do you think NeNe Leakes is named after the goose? I didnt know who she was really (or rather her name) but she was on a magazine cover in target and we discussed how to pronounce it. ANYHOW! This sweater is the perfect combo with the floral crown. This is one of my fave outfits of yours - even if you don't wear shorts often, the look amazing on you. And I am still forever jealous that you are in Hawaii. I can only imagine

  11. god am i loving these vacation posts. you're making me want to fly away some where right NOW haha. That's such a cute story with your brother. My youngest brother calls me Ada because when he was little he couldn't handle pronouncing "marilyn" so he made that up instead- and it stuck! When he calls me Marlen now it always sounds so...unnatural haha. And I'm loving your yellow outfit here, especially with the crown. I see you put your glue gun to good use ;)

And that sweet message on the pavement reminds me of this tradition we have in Wrigley Field (the baseball stadium). You can buy a space in a cobble stone paved along the stadium to write a message, and it's so fun seeing all the "It's our first date" "baby's first baseball game" "father & son tradition" messages as you walk. It's so sweet :)

  12. Oh, such beautiful views! I agree, wind and sundresses are not always the best of friends-you don't want to give anyone a show! haha. I love your cute printed shorts though-they look great with the stripes in your sweater. I hope the weather lets you have a bit more fun before you need to leave! I'm sure that's frustrating since you traveled all that way.
