Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween!
Just wanted to share a few snaps of R and I as Catwoman and Batman.  We dressed up and went out on the town on Saturday night, and it was so fun! R loves Batman, and I got him this costume as part of his birthday present- check out those rippling abs ;)
The best part is that we kept running into other batman characters throughout the night who wanted us to join them and be in pictures! R even fought a band of Batman's enemies in the middle of Pearl Street, I so wish I had some videos!  These pictures were taken right before we headed out and the last three are just silly ones from my laptop camera! My costume was based off of Anne Hathaway's catwoman character in A Dark Night Rises, because I thought she kicked some major booty! I bought the black jumpsuit, but made all of my other accessories like the mask and ears.
Anyway, we aren't going out and celebrating again tonight.  With almost all of my family and friends back on the East coast being affected by Hurricane Sandy, the mood seems a bit more somber than celebratory.  Everybody is safe, but most are still without power and a whole lot of property and places from where I grew up have been destroyed.  I hope all of you are safe and sound!  I plan on having a low key night in with a pumpkin ale, carving my pumpkin and roasting the seeds to snack on.  If you guys posted pictures of your costumes, leave a link in the comments I would love to see them!

Bohemian Rhapsody (Recap)

Hi guys,
Just wanted to do a little recap in case you missed my post over on the Flock Together blog yesterday, and I added a few different photos as well.  I took more pictures this weekend for both my blog and my shop, but somehow the images got corrupted and all but about 5 turned up as completely black.  I of course had already pressed "delete off of memory card" after it told me that the upload onto my computer was complete, and had no way of retrieving them.  It was a pretty huge bummer.

Outfit Details:
Dress: Borrowed from Elana of Room 334
Sweater, Slip, Boots, & Purse: Vintage/ thrifted
Necklace: Vintage, guft
Bracelets: InPink
Anyway, as I mentioned on Flock Together, when the lovely  Elana of Room 334 sent me this beautiful dress to style, I immediately knew I wanted to go with a very Free People bohemian vibe.  I added lots of vintage accessories, stood in a favorite field of mine, threw my hair into messy french braids... and here you have it!  The sun had just disappeared for the evening, leaving a soft glow behind.
I also would like to say that I hope everyone closer to the East coast is doing okay in hurricane Sandy.  My parents live right on the Jersey shore and haven't had power for a while.  Luckily, they are five blocks inland from the ocean and I don't think the flooding has gotten inside the house much yet, but I know the town's pier and boardwalk are completely destroyed already.  I grew up in a small coastal town slightly north of where they live in now, and I remember being evacuated from my house in a rowboat during the storm of '92! Definitely sending good thoughts towards the East!

Grizzly Bears and Tribal Prints

Happy Friday!
Boulder is covered in a pretty layer of white snow.  I am trying to embrace it because the streets aren't bad and it is actually making everything look beautiful and serene.  I thought this was the perfect outfit to post on a snow day! Not a REAL snow day people, I am still at work- just a day with snow! I don't even know if Coloradans DO snow days.  Growing up in New Jersey, all we needed was a few inches and a night of wearing your pajamas inside out to cancel school the next day.

Outfit Details:
Sweater: Vintage/ thrifted
Boots: Target
Grizzly Leggings: French Connection UK via Sears
Collar Necklace: Apris Loves via Etsy
I wore this cozy outfit to the cabin last weekend, but I have been wearing some version of this for about two weeks now.  Comfy leggings, an oversized sweater, and boots is my go-to uniform when the temperatures quickly drop.  Sometimes I add a scarf if I am feelin' fancy.  I usually try to avoid wearing leggings on the blog, but these ones have grizzly bears on them so I thought maybe the cool factor would partially cancel out the slob factor. I have also been carrying this adorable little Pendelton bag around with me everywhere that I got from Karmaloop! It is actually supposed to be a cosmetics case, but I have been throwing my cell phone and lip balm in it and carrying it as a little clutch because it is too cute to just stay at home! I recently bought my boater hat (seen in this post) from Karmaloop and it has been another fall favorite of mine. Next on my list is one of their travel duffel bags, which is promptly being put on my wishlist for Christmas!
Anyway I want to hear everyone's fun plans for Halloweekend! R and I are going as batman and catwoman, probably along with the rest of the free world.  I know a lot of people did not like Anne Hathaway as catwoman in the Dark Night Rises, but I thought she was great, so that's what I am basing my costume off of!  Did you see it? What did you think? Can't wait to hear all the fun things you have planned!

Mountain Time

Hi guys!  Happy Wednesday.  I am getting back into the swing of things after my mini cabin vacation.  Luckily, I can live vicariously through my vacation pictures for awhile! Since I got a bunch of comments about wearing a dress in the snow on the last post, I decided to go for a more mountain appropriate outfit this time around! But when it was in the 30s already a few weeks ago, let me tell you, 60 degrees feels like a springtime stroll through the park!
Outfit Details:
Watch: c/o Sprout Watches
Skirt & Belt: Thrifted
Sweater: F21
Necklace: Ampris Loves
Shoes &Tights: Not sure
Do you guys notice something I am wearing in this post that you have probably never seen me wear before?  If you guessed the watch, you would be correct! I am absolutely smitten with this watch that Sprout Watches, an amazing eco-friendly watch company, sent over for me to try.  As you all probably know by now, I work in the environmental field, so I love when I can combine my love of fashion with my passion for the environment and sustainability. I chose this boyfriend style watch because I absolutely loved the wooden watch face against the white background and thought it would go with anything! But here is where the watch gets even better.  It is actually made mainly of corn resin, which will not wear down with regular wear, but in a compost environment, will biodegrade into carbon dioxide and water within 365 days! SO COOL!
They had a lot of awesome watches to choose from for both guys and gals, and with the holidays coming up, I could not recommend these watches enough.  I am thinking of getting this recyclable cork one for my brother for Christmas. (Have no fear that the surprise will be ruined- I would keel over on the spot due to pure shock if he were reading my blog). They even had some with cute nautical anchors and little owls on the watch faces.  Anyway, you will definitely be seeing a lot more of my Sprout Watch in outfit posts, and maybe I will actually be on time for things now! But, let's be honest, probably not.  If you do head over to the Sprout site, I would love to hear which one you would choose as your favorite!  I hope you all are having an amazing day!

*Note: I received my watch courtesy of Sprout Watches, but all of these opinions are 100% my own!

Goldilocks (But No Bears)!

Well, my mini blogging break and cabin weekend are now over and its back to work for me...(booo).  We drove back from Breckenridge early this morning and I dropped my parents at the airport before work.  I am pretty exhausted, but it was an amazing weekend with family and friends so it was well worth it!
Outfit Details:
Dress: Vintage, gift
Shoes: Vintage, thrifted
Tights: Target
I managed to take a bunch of pictures and I am so excited to share them all with you guys!  This is the outfit I wore on Saturday night when everyone went out to dinner at an adorable restaurant in downtown Breckenridge for R's birthday.  The dress is the other vintage dress that my aunt sent me as a gift, which I basically never want to take off!  There was a little bit of snow on the ground up there, but it was actually the perfect fall temperature during the day in the high 50s.  I felt a little like Goldilocks with my hair whipping in the wind with a wooded backdrop and my basket of pine cones! I have to admit, I was pretty nervous venturing near the woods alone with my tripod as there are a ton of bears in the area, but I thankfully didn't run into any! The house we all shared and the scenery were so beautiful, but I will share more pictures soon!
I will be catching up with everyone's blogs later today! I hope you all had a terrific weekend and are having a great start to your week!
