In a far, far away land named 5pm, there lived a happy girl...
I
am convinced that Friday minutes are not equivalent to the minutes that
make up the other six days of the week. Friday minutes crawl along at a
painstakingly slow pace and 5pm always seems like a number so far in
the distance it is seemingly unattainable. I swear those minutes I keep
checking on the clock are not progressing at normal speed. I read
somewhere recently how everyone is always excited for Fridays and thinks
it will be a really good day, while everyone undoubtedly hates Mondays
and thinks it will be a terrible day. Makes sense to me. It turned out
in the study though, more people actually have bad Fridays, while Mondays are
usually pretty easy and bearable. Its all about your mindset people!

I'll be honest with your guys, my mindset is pretty grumpy on this particular Friday, and try as I may I cannot seem to shake it. I downed a delicious vanilla latte and a maple blueberry scone hoping to ease away the gloom, which did help for a good hour and a half, but their novelty (read: their sugar and caffeine) has since worn off.
The reason for all of this gloom is because Colorado decided to be in summer mode last weekend, then had approximately three beautiful days of fall, and then headed straight into winter yesterday. It was in the 30s all day, and I woke up to the trees outside my bedroom adorned with a white layer of snow on them this morning. Snow is simply not acceptable to me right now. Snow is only acceptable after Halloween, and if and only if it meets the following criteria:
1. It cancels something that I didn't want do.
2. I do not need to leave my house.
3. I have a mass supply of delicious food already stored in the cupboard.

These photos now feel a little deceptive to me, as they were taken this Sunday on a nice 85 degree bike ride to the park. I was angry that I had SOCKS on because it was so hot out. Yup, be careful what you wish for! Anyway, its not all bad. I am snuggled into my desk in fuzzy parka, scarf, and lined tights which are quite warm and comfy, and I have a fun weekend ahead of me! I hope to see a good friend in Denver I haven't seen in way too long for Brunch, go on a vintage haul for my shop, and my parents arrive on Sunday! My mom is even bringing a whole bag of vintage she found while thrifting for me, hooray!
So, I will leave you guys on that happy note.

I was seriously just reading this post when I got an email saying you had commented on mine! But anyway, I cannot believe it's snowing already. That's crazy. As much as I love getting to have real seasons now, I HATE snow. It's makes being stylish so difficult. And I'm clumsy so I always feel like I'm going to slip. How do you find the best vintage dresses? You look so cute with the sweater tied around it too. And seriously, how do I get my hands on some of these bracelets?? I'm envious every single time you wear them.
ReplyDeleteUgh! I know EXACTLY how you feel. 85 on Wednesday and it was snowing last night! I keep hoping that the wild Rocky Mountains weather will swing wildly back the other way next week.
ReplyDeleteThis is a fun summery-cheery look! The stripes just make you smile.
Snow!?! Oh dear. That is no fun at all. I hope it warms up a bit for you until November at least. It has been getting really chilly here in Illinois as well, I am not ready for it.
ReplyDeleteThis look is so cute. I love how bright and cheerful it is :]
Really cute dress! And the landscape is soooo beautiful :)

I love your snow day criteria, you nailed it! Although I never have snowy days in Phoenix, I had a similar list when I was in Oregon :) We have often tossed around the idea of moving to Colorado and I've heard the weather often changes erratically, even in one day. Well, you look cute and I can't wait to see the vintage your mom brought!
ReplyDeleteMy friends were posting pictures of the snow in Colorado! ABSOLUTELY crazy. I don't even want to think about it. But at least you look incredible in this dress. It's like 30 degrees and raining here, boo!
ReplyDeleteI love your colorful little bracelets!
ReplyDeleteThis is so beautiful! I adore yellow on you, especially with those stylish socks! I've been trying to thrift a pair of great loafers for a while now-these are so darling! I love 'em.
