Black is the new black.

Hi friends! Finally Friday and finally a blog post! You'll probably notice things looking a bit different around here, can I get another "finally"!?  I have a fresh new blog layout thanks to Suzana at This Girl Designs.  I have been looking for weeks for a pre made template that I like, something new with lots of white and clean lines.  I decided on this one, which Suzana installed for me free of charge within 24 hours of my purchase which was awesome.  I then tweaked a few things to make it a bit more personalized to my style, and voila, here it is!

On to the outfit! This is the second way I am styling this adorable peter pan collar dress from Erica of Sweets and Hearts, this time wearing it as a blouse.  This quilted skirt is going to definitely be a fall and winter staple for me.  And my pink hair is almost completely faded! I am trying to resist the urge to re-do it because I am heading to Italy at the end of the month and want just my natural hair for the trip.  R and I are trying to learn some key Italian phrases!  So far the most important thing I have discovered in my language lessons is that "latte" just means milk, not a type of coffee drink!

If any of you have been to Italy I would love to hear some suggestions!  We are going to be on the Amalfi coast for most of the time (Positano, Sorrento, and Capri) and then back up to Rome, Florence, and Venice!  I am SO excited!

Oh and here is a little before and after of the blog makeover!

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend planned!

As for the outfit, this dress really works as a top and gives a nice pop to the otherwise monochromatic outfit!

SO EXCITING that you're going to Italy!! I've never been, so I can't offer any tips, just jealousy :)

  10. I HIGHLY recommend stopping in Orvieto (it's halfway between Rome and Florence and right on the train line). Take the funicular up to the top of the hill and spend a little time there. Even if you can only manage half a day. I lived in this town for some time, and it is magical. I promise. It's got a ton of history (Etruscans!) and art and amazing churches (duomo and San giovenale to name two). And a "couple" of perfect views of the Umbrian countryside. And some of the best gelato (pasqualetti) . Friends who have traveled to Italy have scoffed at me for this recommendation before...then go and fall in love! That is so exciting you are going. I cannot wait to go back some day. Also love the new layout!

  11. Oh man- I'm so jealous of your upcoming trip! I've been to all of your stops and they are all amazing. It doesn't get more beautiful than the Amalfi coast! Although if you get car sick, bring some meds for that drive- haha :) Loving the new blog design, so clean and sharp! Cute remix too! My black skater skirt has gotten way more use than I'd like to admit ;)
