Waves of Grain

Monday already! Mine started out with getting my packages jammed in the post office drop box door followed by a free latte, so I guess that cancels out to a neutral morning before work.  And I feel like neutral is the best you can hope for on a Monday!  I had a really mellow but really nice weekend though so with those memories still fresh in my mind I'm ready to tackle another week!

Outfit Details: Dress - Vintage - for sale in shop here // Boots - Bamboo // Socks - Target

This weekend we had gorgeous weather! While we are starting to see snow on the mountain tops in the distance, it was in the 70s here.  I baked, sampled lots of pumpkin beer, did a bit of shop work, and of course, watched the season finale of Breaking Bad!
On to the outfit.  I wore this to work last week, and while I know 60s shift style or tent dresses sometimes aren't the most figure flattering, their comfort sure makes up for it! This dress is for sale in the shop and I just love the neutral florals paired with the high ruffled neck!  The sky was gorgeous while taking these but its so hard to catch sunsets on film when there's an item (uhm, me) in the foreground.
Anyway, I hope you all have a wonderful start to your week!

Fall Roundup

It feels exciting to finally have a seasons worth of blog posts to look back on.  To welcome the official start of fall, I decided to go through my photo archives to find some of my favorite looks from last fall! Sometimes it is easy to forget that having a "style" blog isn't about just outfits though.  Each one of these photos evokes such great memories from when the photo was taken.  I can still see who I was with, where we ate, what we saw, and even what kind of mood I was in for each and every one of these.

Here are a few things I am looking forward to with the new season:
1. Cozy sweaters
2. Colorful socks and tights
3. A mountain drive to see all of the changing leaves
4. Pumpkin ales and seasonal beers
5. Starting to work my vintage shop full time and preparing for the holiday season
6. Flannel sheets and blanket layers
7. My sweet foster kitty Pookie hopefully finding the best home ever!
8. The colors burgundy, burnt orange, cobalt blue, and mustard yellow.
9. Perhaps a visit from my parents!
10. R's birthday!

What are you looking forward to?

Friday's Favorite Finds {Vol. 6}

I missed last Friday's Favorite Finds since my town was mostly underwater, so now I have two whole weeks of inspiration and finds to share!

I check out the daily deal site Zulily (<-- personal invite link) a few times a week, and this week's favorite was this awesome and cozy looking weekender bag, perfect for short mountain getaways!

I wish this lavender ice coffee from A Beautiful Mess was sitting next to me at work right now! I know the blogging world is all about the pumpkin spice right now, but this sounds like it would give that a run for its money and you can make it at home!
I've got my eye on a few statement necklaces for fall, as I am picturing them paired with a long sleeve blouse under a sweater.  This one is super cute and is only $13.99!

I love reading menus and seeing the insides of different restaurants, so I really enjoyed this article from Open Table on the best rated Top 100 restaurants in the US.  It was also fun to see if I had any near me to try out!

I may have just "accidentally" bought these.  I pinned them to my wishlist on pinterest and then actually purchased them within three minutes flat.  I had some rewards points saved up and free shipping so these babies cost me a whole $35. They seemed like the perfect way to bring floral into fall and winter!

I recently discovered photographer Kevin Russ's work and it is stunning! I am definitely ordering the buffalo print, but have my eye on at least three more! You can see his whole gallery on Society6 here!

The online boutique eShakti just launched their fall line, and I think this skirt has to be my favorite from it! I think it would have endless remix potential for fall and I love that all of their clothing is customizable!

This banana cream fudge recipe is so pretty and sounds easy to make! I think little bags and fudge would make a nice gift for the holidays, so I am going to practice some recipes in the meantime!

Spotted: DREAM HOME! I came across blogger and designer Kelli Murray's home tour while browsing Design*Sponge and I think it is the best house I have ever seen.  Bright whites with cozy wooden touches and lots of art.

Speaking of dream homes, I am planning an IKEA trip this weekend to get some things I need for my apartment and shop. This is my first time I am going in to the store actually planning on spending money instead of watching R spend money, so I am kind of excited! Hope you all have a fun weekend planned!

Polka Stripes

I love me some print mixing, but when the prints are already mixed for me on a single piece of clothing I say even better! My mom sent me this amazing vintage dress that has a polka dot print mixed with stripes and I don't think it could get any cuter! Unfortunately, it is just a tad bit snug on me around the waist (must stop eating pizza + snacks all weekend long) so it is now up for grabs in the shop!  She always sends me the best vintage finds!
Outfit Details: Dress - Vintage, for sale in shop here! // Red Oxfords - c/o American Apparel
// Sunnies - Lulu*s

Anyway, two posts in a row with my new sunnies from Lulus.  Don't say I didn't warn you.  There was absolutely zero sun to block on this particular day too but I wore them anyway.  Though red isn't at the top of my favorite color list, I think its my favorite pop of color to add to outfits, it always adds a bit of fun.
I can't believe we are over halfway through September already.  Time is just flying by and while I am certainly welcoming a bit of fall weather, I am not welcoming winter in the least!
Hope you're all having a beautiful week!

Red Brocade

Well, there has been a bit of radio silence over here for the past few days, but for good reason.  The town where I live in Colorado has been getting torrential downpours and catastrophic flooding for the past few days, but we finally seem to be out of the worst.  I left work early on Thursday to go home and move things off the floor and grab my foster kitty Pookie and we headed across town to R's, who lives on higher ground and further away from the creeks.  Everything turned out fine at my place, but I couldn't actually make it back across town to check if it was flooded or not for two days, so that was nerve-wracking to say the least! Definitely send your nice thoughts towards the people of this area though as its going to take awhile to rebuild the roads, homes, and businesses that were affected.

Outfit Details: Dress - c/o Persunmall // Fair Isle Blouse - Vintage, on sale in the shop here! //
Shoes - MIA // Tights - Target // Sunnies - Lulus

I actually feel kind of guilty even posting an outfit today, but I realize that's probably just silly and all you can really try to do is get back to normal in these kind of circumstances.  I actually wore this this weekend as the temperatures really dropped with all the rain, but it only really saw the inside of R's place and right outside his apartment.  Nevertheless, I love this dress I just got in the mail from Persunmall and couldn't wait to wear it! Even thought the brocade embroidery is kind of fancy and could easily be dressed up, I was actually thrilled how soft and comfortable the material was.  I can't wait to wear it for some sort of special occasion instead of while being stuck inside during a terrible storm.  I also apologize in advance for how much you'll be seeing these sunglasses.  I picked them up during the Lulu*s labor day sale after eying them longingly all summer.
Have a great start to your week!
