Perspective

Happy Friday!
Working a bunch of days in a row always puts things in perspective for me.  Usually, by the end of five days, I feel like I NEED a weekend off and can't work a second past 5pm on Friday since that's the level of effort my mind and body are accustomed to putting in.  When I am working 12 days in a row though, a Friday just feels like any other day, and I think my mindset automatically adjusts to the longer time frame, if that makes sense.  Though I am tired, I don't feel that absolute NEED for a day off, I just feel more like "Keep on trucking Hannah, you're almost halfway through!"  It's actually quite interesting what you can adjust to!
Anyway, things have been busy busy busy around here, so I am sharing a few more pictures from my trip home to New Jersey last month (which is why my hair is still blonde in the pictures!)  These are a few more snaps from Cape May, taken when we went out to celebrate my brother's graduation.  Have you ever actually sat at a bar with your whole family in a row (mom, dad, and brother) drinking Martinis?  It's quite a funny sight, and I wish I had some photographic evidence of that part!
I am thinking after working this overtime I may finally buy the new lens for my camera that I have been wanting forever.  I actually would love to hear what you shoot your outfit pictures with! My camera body is a Nikon D5100 and right now I only use the kit lens it came with, but I really want a 50mm 1.8 lens and would love to hear your input! I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

  1. You look so adorable (love that yellow dress on you), and I adore that scalloped building!! Sigh, I need to learn more about cameras. I'm just using the one that quasi belongs to my boyfriend, and I've just taken photos by messing around via trial and error. But I need to figure out what I should actually be doing, heh.

  5. It's kind of like when you're at the end of a workout and you're like... hey, now that I'm in the zone, I could keep going! I know what you mean. :) I'm always afraid that my weekends are just gonna ruin my week progress and I'll have to start from the bottom again and motivate myself hahaha.

Gosh, that dress is such a gorgeous color and cut! I love the details around the top.

  11. A weird question, but I'm actually not sure I know. What do you do for a living (in addition to your etsy shop)?

At any rate, I really like this simple, classic dress.

  13. Well I can't wait until everyone is my family is old enough to drink a martini, because that WILL be a blast! Such gorgeous buildings! I'm dying over that purple one. I've never been to New Jersey but I've always wanted to go (to Atlantic City, especially) and this just confirms it!!

  14. I just saw your new hair from your older post and I LOVE IT! The color looks so awesome on you. I've always liked red hair but I don't think it would look nice on me. Anyway, super cute dress and Cape May has such cute houses. I would love to visit the east coast someday!

I have the 50mm f/1.8 :) I like it but I think the autofocus on my lens isn't working so my pictures are always a bit blurry. Although whenever I have more time, I use manual focus and then it's all okay :) Other than that, I love it! And I used to use the 85mm f/1.8 and I really really really liked that one.

  16. I've never been to Jersey - this makes me want to take an adventure there! :) I have been taking every other Friday off this summer - for working on vintage, wedding planning, etc, - and it's been GLORIOUS! I don't know how you do it all, lady. I am still not ready to open the etsy shop again. I am enjoying this break too much! :) Third sewing class tomorrow! Eek! So very proud of myself.
