This year has been full of new beginnings for me.  I moved to a new apartment during the summer and it was my first time ever living without roommates on my own.  Then late in the year, I made the big move to go full time with my vintage shop and I got to experience being my own boss! This blog has also been such a huge and wonderful part of my life this year and I have so enjoyed "meeting" so many of you!  So it is with Aloha, which means both hello and goodbye, that I will say farewell to 2013 and welcome in the new year with R, family, and friends tonight in Hawaii.

Thank you all for making this year such an exciting one for me!

Mele Kalikimaka

A belated Mele Kalikimaka (Merry Christmas) from Hawaii! My brother and I flew in late Christmas eve to meet my parents in Kauai, lugging a ginormous suitcase full of my clothing and my family's gifts along.   We actually spent most of Christmas day relaxing and wrapping and celebrated the next morning instead.  This is what I wore out to dinner on Christmas day!
Outfit Details: Skirt - c/o Oasap // Blouse - c/o August Wrinkle // Heels - Ross //
Vintage Purse - gift from my mom!

I actually recreated the outfit I wore to Christmas dinner in the beautiful morning light yesterday before we caught an inter-island flight to Maui.  Today I am excitedly waiting R's arrival, as he has never been to this island before. We are also traveling with our family friends, and their kids arrive today too.  Its great because our two families LOVE to joke and play pranks on each other, etc., so the atmosphere is always full of laughter.  For example, for Christmas dinner that we had booked at a very popular restaurant days in advance, our family friend Mark dropped us off close to the restaurant to park the car. But then he actually sneakily beat us to the restaurant to convince the poor hostesses to play a trick on us and tell us they did not have our reservation anywhere in the system and they were fully booked.  The situation escalated from happy go lucky to extremely angry in about point five seconds as Mark watched the hilarity from around the corner.  I won't say which of us lost our cool the quickest (cough cough Mom). Finally Mark jumped out to announce his lovely Christmas joke and the situation was eased with some tropical Mai Tai's.
It's always strange posting summery outfits here while we are in the dead of winter in Colorado.  That said, its a pretty easy transition in this direction and a rude awakening on the opposite end of the trip! I hope you all had a wonderful holiday and can't wait to share with you all where my travels bring me for a bit!

Merry Christmas!

Wishing you all a very merry Christmas if you celebrate! I very much appreciate each and every one of you who come to my little corner of the internet!  These are a few photos I snapped of my foster kittens, who just went back to the shelter and I am sure will find homes right away because they are ADORABLE! They were fans of Christmas too.  Namely, climbing and hiding in R's mini Christmas Tree! Happy Holidays!

Winter Ballet

There are a few things about this lovely pink skirt I borrowed from the beautiful Sammi that remind me of a ballerina.  The baby pink color, the slight shimmer, and the flared cut made me want to spin in circles with my hands held high in an arch above my head.  So I did just that, not realizing I was legitimately flashing every single car that passed by while I was taking these until I got home later and went through the photos. Whoops.  At least my control top pantyhose and matching pink granny panties made for a super sexy view!
Outfit Details: Skirt- borrowed from Sammi // Sweater - thrifted // Shoes - "Diba Office Dixie Bootie" via DSW // Necklace - Forever 21

Anyway, I have been absolutely loving my new lens! I thought it was going to be intimidating to use, but the manual focus has actually made taking blog photos by myself with my tripod so much easier!  All I have to do now is set a high aperture, turn the lens until it focuses on a spot (like a rock, etc) where I will later be standing, and almost everything comes out in clear focus with no guess work!  Plus, I think R has been happy to be given a rest on constantly being barraged for help with blog photos over the weekend and I have been happily adventuring around with my tripod experimenting by myself!
In other news, things have been super busy trying to get out all of my shop orders, packing, and trying to get my life together in general before jetting off to Hawaii tomorrow.  This holiday season has been flying by so quickly I have barely had time to actually realize I'm about to leave!
I hope you guys have a wonderful start to your holidays!

Estes Park

Sometimes its a happy surprise finding a set of photos on your computer that somehow got lost in the mix for awhile.  These were actually taken in early November and I completely forgot about them!
Outfit Details: Jacket, Shoes, Pants, Purse - thrifted // Plaid Blouse - for sale in the shop here!

One weekend morning, R, his mom, and I decided to go on a short road trip up to Estes Park for the day.  While it is only about an hour drive, the road had been washed out by the flood and this was the first weekend it was reopened.  It was really sad to see all of the houses and fallen trees that had been completely ruined by the high waters, but it was good to see a lot of the businesses start to come back around and reopen.  We got pizza, wondered around the little downtown, and ended the day with a trip to the candy store to get some homemade fudge!

I am wearing an entirely thrifted outfit, from my jacket down to my shoes! The Dooney and Burke purse was a lucky vintage find last year and is my go-to bag every day, and the plaid blouse is for sale in the shop here! The jacket I thrifted a few days before these were taken, but it immediately went into the "keep for myself" pile!

Hope you're having a great week so far!

Floral + Chambray

A new week and a few snaps from a snowy day last weekend.  The snow makes even the most ordinary landscapes look a little more magical, but I'm happy its finally melting and its been a bit warmer here for the sake of my frozen limbs!

Outfit Details: Chambray Shirt - c/o American Apparel // Shoes - vintage // Pants - Marshalls //
Beanie - Nixon via Swell // Cardigan - Target // Necklace - c/o Oasap

The reality is finally setting in that this week is my last full week home before I leave for Hawaii.  Its going to be chock full of gift wrapping and keeping up with shop orders!  And of course many annoying trips to the post office, which is the absolutely worst this time of year! I really need to get me a working printer and start printing postage from home.

As for the outfit, I've had these pants for quite some time but I'm not sure if they've ever made it on the blog.  But since I've been loving separates/ pants way more than my usual dresses lately, these needed to make an appearance!  Hope you all had a wonderful weekend!
