Taormina Villa (Sicily Travel Journal Pt. 1)

Hi Friends,
Back from vacation now, wahhhh!  Had an amazing time exploring Sicily the past two weeks though and thought I would share an outfit and a few photos from the trip.  These were all taken on the grounds of a beautiful villa hotel next to an apartment we were renting in Taormina.  It looked so pretty at dusk it was like a fairytale.

Anyway, back to the real world now.  I am about to crawl in bed and its not even 7pm yet, but an 8 hour time difference will do that to you!  Work should be interesting in the morning... What have you guys been up to?!

Mountain Hiatus

Hi guys!  Sorry for the brief hiatus there, I've been hanging out with my family who was here visiting for the past week.  I didn't really plan to take a break from everything, but it turned out being really nice to disconnect for awhile.

Vtg Denim Dress -for sale in the shop here!
Denim Blouse - Target
Plaid Shirt - Forever 21
Shoes - Minnetonka

On Friday we took a little roadtrip into the mountains to stay in a family friend's house near Vail, which was beautiful! A much needed relaxing few days spent hiking, eating and drinking, and spending time with family and friends.  I had my mom snap these quickly before we headed out on our last day, but besides these I really didn't even take my camera out of its case! Now its back to reality while trying to figure out how to make the most of the last month of summer!

King Street

Hi guys!  I'm really trying to keep up with everything but it's been tough!  Which is why I am still on my photos from my trip to Charleston a few weeks back...
Outfit Details
Sweater - Target
Blouse - c/o Oasap
Pants - Macys - on sale!
Sneakers - H&M
Sunnies- street market in Italy

Now can you see why R and I are thinking about moving here?! These were taken in the historic downtown area on a day where we just walked exploring for miles and miles.  SO many pretty buildings! The main shopping street, King Street, shuts down to car traffic on every first Sunday of the month and all of the shops and restaurants bring their merchandise outside.  We just happened to catch the first Sunday on a beautiful sunny day.  We went to brunch at Hominy Grill (yum), strolled King Street, explored an old cemetery, and even took a horse and carriage ride!

Also, I dyed my hair light turquoise, which I will post more about soon!

Guava Papaya

What I would give to still be here as we speak, sipping on a mai tai before we heading out to dinner!  Coming back from Hawaii, no matter how long or short the visit, always leaves me with an unsettled yearning, or the post-vacation blues!

Outfit Details
Romper & Necklace- The Root (Kauai)
Crystal Necklace - Vintage
Purse - Vintage
Sandals - gift
Hat - Eddie Bauer

I felt completely in my element in this bright outfit. I picked up this cute romper and fringe necklace at a local boutique in Hanalei called The Root.  It's super comfy and now I wish summer would hurry up and get here in Colorado so I can wear it again.  R and I actually rented kayaks from the place I am standing in front of earlier that morning and spent a few hours paddling down the river through trees and jungle.  I may or may not have been able to lift my arms for the rest of the day afterwards.
This is the end of the outfit photos from my trip, so it will be back to wintry Colorado posts after this (though I can't complain, the weather here has been unseasonably warm lately too!)  Hope you guys are having a good week!

Island Americana

I was going to title this post "Island Patriot", but I didn't want anyone to get the false impression that I watched the Superbowl yesterday...
Outfit Details
Shirt - Swell (Mens section/ altered)
Shorts - Vintage
Hat - Eddie Bauer

These snaps were taken outside of the little cottage we rented in Hanalei.  The top was from the men's section of Swell, and I brought up the length and the sleeves to make it into a crop top right before we left.  The shorts also used to be a really awkward almost-knee length.  It's amazing what some tiny/ easy alterations can do!  Hope you guys had a wonderful weekend!

Misty Pacific

Hello!
I am finally back to the daily grind in Colorado after an overnight flight from Kauai and a weird day of sleepy limbo here yesterday.  Leaving Hawaii is always really awful, but the semblance of normalcy of sitting here writing a blog post with a cup of coffee before heading up to my office to start shop work actually feels kind of nice.  These past few months have been such a whirlwind of travel, work, and various holidays, but sometimes its nice to just thrive on the comfort of a daily routine.
Outfit Details
Dress - c/o Oasap
Necklace - Vintage

These photos were snapped when R and I brought a few beers down to Hanalei bay to catch the sunset before dinner.  Hanalei is one of my favorite beaches in the world, and is almost always covered in a fine layer of mist.  The beautiful scenery and simple way of dressing there definitely renewed my passion for blogging for the time being.  I've got a few more tropical posts lined up until its back to winter dressing (ugh).  I am going to try to catch up on all of your blogs too, can't wait to see what everyone has been up to!
