Portfolio: Heather Hawaii

Hi guys!  Since I have been stuck inside due to piles of snow and unable to really get out to take pretty outfit photos, I thought I would share some photos I took in Hawaii of my brother's beautiful girlfriend heather!  It was such a treat to get to be creative on the other end of the camera for once and we had so much shooting these at the Hapuna Beach Prince Hotel on the big island.  Which is your favorite?

Guava Papaya

 What I would give to still be here as we speak, sipping on a mai tai before we heading out to dinner!  Coming back from Hawaii, no matter how long or short the visit, always leaves me with an unsettled yearning, or the post-vacation blues!

I felt completely in my element in this bright outfit. I picked up this cute romper and fringe necklace at a local boutique in Hanalei called The Root.  It's super comfy and now I wish summer would hurry up and get here in Colorado so I can wear it again.  R and I actually rented kayaks from the place I am standing in front of earlier that morning and spent a few hours paddling down the river through trees and jungle.  I may or may not have been able to lift my arms for the rest of the day afterwards.
This is the end of the outfit photos from my trip, so it will be back to wintry Colorado posts after this (though I can't complain, the weather here has been unseasonably warm lately too!)  Hope you guys are having a good week!

Island Americana

I was going to title this post "Island Patriot", but I didn't want anyone to get the false impression that I watched the Superbowl yesterday...

These snaps were taken outside of the little cottage we rented in Hanalei.  The top was from the men's section of Swell, and I brought up the length and the sleeves to make it into a crop top right before we left.  The shorts also used to be a really awkward almost-knee length.  It's amazing what some tiny/ easy alterations can do!  Hope you guys had a wonderful weekend!

Misty Pacific

Hello!
    I am finally back to the daily grind in Colorado after an overnight flight from Kauai and a weird day of sleepy limbo here yesterday.  Leaving Hawaii is always really awful, but the semblance of normalcy of sitting here writing a blog post with a cup of coffee before heading up to my office to start shop work actually feels kind of nice.  These past few months have been such a whirlwind of travel, work, and various holidays, but sometimes its nice to just thrive on the comfort of a daily routine.

These photos were snapped when R and I brought a few beers down to Hanalei bay to catch the sunset before dinner.  Hanalei is one of my favorite beaches in the world, and is almost always covered in a fine layer of mist.  The beautiful scenery and simple way of dressing there definitely renewed my passion for blogging for the time being.  I've got a few more tropical posts lined up until its back to winter dressing (ugh).  I am going to try to catch up on all of your blogs too, can't wait to see what everyone has been up to!

In a Land Called Hanalei

Hi Strangers.  It's been awhile, and I've honestly just been soaking up the sun and sand without wanting to even open my laptop or camera!  I am currently staying in the little town of Hanalei on the island of Kauai, one of my favorite places ever.  We rented a little cottage on the creek in easy walking distance to the beach, town, and some awesome food trucks.  I would camp out here for a few months and avoid the Colorado winter altogether if it was at all possible!

These were taken on the way out to dinner last night in our streamside backyard at twilight.  I have been feeling really uninspired by outfits, as it usually involves lots of sun tan lotion, very little makeup, and maybe a sweaty beac cover up.  I am going to try to document a few more before I leave though, as I know I will regret not taking advantage of the warm weather, later sunsets, and beautiful scenery when I'm back in Colorado!
Anyway, I have honestly been missing you guys and the inspiration of the blogging community, so I am excited to get back into swing of things next week after I'm home.  But for now, I'm off to finish this Mai Tai ;)

Sun vs. Snow

Well let's just say sitting here editing my last outfit photos from Hawaii in the middle of a snowstorm here in Colorado has been a bit of a tease! I have been home for a little over a week now and I am finding it amazing how quickly vacation seems like a distant memory upon return to the real world.  That said,  I am actually happy to be back to work on the shop and even covered in snow, I really love where I live so its not so bad!

It's safe to say this whole outfit is pretty much from my mom!  The palm frond dress was a Christmas gift that matched all the surrounding tropical foliage perfectly. The sunglasses are my favorites ever which she found for me while we were shopping at a grocery store, and the little envelope necklace I was just borrowing from her for the night.
    Anyway, I'm off to convince myself to get my butt to my new gym in the snow and then hem and fix up a bajillion awesome pieces of vintage I found this weekend for the shop!
