Salvaged Strawberry

 Hi guys,
Did you have a good weekend? Mine was way too short and busy, but this is only a three day week so I can totally handle it. Or so I keep telling myself.
Outfit Details:
Dress: Vintage from Salvaged Strawberry
Boots: MIA, gift from mom
Hat: gift from mom
Skinny Belt: Forever21
Scarf: Target

This is what I wore this weekend to run around doing a million things.  When I saw this striped maxi in the awesome vintage shop Salvaged Strawberry, I just had to have it!  I have never really worn maxi dresses in the winter before, but  thought this could be a piece for any season.  And let's be honest, anything that is as comfy as wearing a sweatsuit but you don't look like a complete slob in, I am totally down for. I originally thought I may hem it, but now I am thinking I really like it as is! Between the velvet floral dress last week and this outfit, I have really been rocking the 90s lately haha.  The lovely Amanda of Salvaged Strawberry even sent me some extra goodies in my package and it was wrapped adorably. Definitely make sure to take a peek at her blog and shop!
I apologize if I have not been responding to comments as much! I usually scroll through blogs in between tasks at work, but the internet at my work is slow as molasses.  I'm working on it!

Little Bear

Happy Friday! This post got kind of lost in the mix for a few weeks. If you are wondering why my hair keeps changing lengths overnight, it is because these are from mid October before I cut it again! This is my very last post from the weekend I spent with family and friends in Breckenridge. These were taken on a beautiful walk full of jokes and sunshine!

Outfit Details:
Shoes: c/o American Apparel
Jacket: gift from mom
How adorable is the little baby bear Ina (pronounced Ee-nah)?! She is the daughter of our really good family friends and I was so excited to get to know her a little better! Karyn (her mom) actually was my babysitter starting when I was teeny tiny and she was only 13 years old! I plan on being Ina's crazy aunt.
Do you guys have any fun plans for the weekend? For anyone who also has a shop or small business, I am sure you guys are feeling like its holiday crunch time like I am!  Sometimes my ambitious feelings do not actually translate to real life though and my shop goes untouched while I shovel food and beverages in my mouth all weekend long. Oops. Sometimes good intentions don't go as far as I'd hope they would.  But cheers to Friday, hopefully being productive, and a short work week next week!

Double Double Toil and Trouble

Hi Guys,
Half way to the weekend! This is an outfit I wore out to dinner and a movie this past Sunday and its probably one of my favorite in a while.  Along with the rest of the fashion community, I am in love with deep colors and velvet, and this little dress pretty much has it all.  It used to be closer to floor length, but I shortened the hem a bit to give it a little more modern vibe.  It will be listed in the shop tonight; another one I will be sad to part with but really excited to see what lovely gal makes it theirs! Sometimes I wish I could put a tracking chip into my vintage pieces so I could really see all the amazing places they go! (Okay that's admittedly kind of creepy...)
  Outfit Details:
Shoes: Vintage/ thrifted
Necklace: Vintage/ gift
Hat: Target
And speaking of a little creepy, I was feeling a little witch like in this outfit, but I am really kind of loving the darker bohemian vibe of it all!  I had to get this hat from Target immediately after seeing it on the lovely Katie's blog! The perfect finishing touch was my new "Jack the Lad" by Butter London nail polish that the awesome people over at Karmaloop sent over for me to try!  Green is my absolutely favorite color, and the deep emerald color with golden flecks makes this my number one favorite nail polish I have ever owned- and that's saying a lot! I also got this amazing deep fuchsia colored one which called "Fiddlesticks" which I cannot wait to pair with a champagne colored holiday dress and curly hair.  "Scuppered", "Shag", and "Royal Navy" are next on my lust list, and I think this little trio would make THE PERFECT holiday gift for a friend!
Have you guys tried any polish from Butter London? What is your go-to holiday nail color for the holidays?

Fashion Frocks

Hi Guys! I hope you all had great weekends, mine surely was not long enough!  Friday night I stayed in with a bowl of pumpkin chili, a few local beers, and a pile of dresses to hem for the shop.  Saturday I was going to head into Denver for a little shopping and a trip to our favorite book store/ coffee shop but we nixed that plan when it started to snow.  I ended up working on the shop most of the day, and then we trekked out in the snow to a local Salvadorian restaurant for empanadas and margaritas later that evening.  Sunday we headed to the movies to see Argo, which I thought was really good but pretty intense.

 Outfit Details:
Dress: 1960s Vintage (Just sold in shop)
Hat: Brixton via Karmaloop
Socks: Target
Shoes: Vintage
Now that you know what I did every breathing second of the weekend, you don't have to be in suspense anymore. On to what I am wearing!  My mom found this dress in a second hand shop in Pennsylvania dutch country, and I was so excited to get it.  This was one of those pieces that was pretty hard for me to list in the shop, and of course it sold within the week! That's how I remain passionate about my shop though, I only sell what I truly love myself! When I list items in the shop, I like to do research on the label so I know what era it is most likely from and how to price it accordingly, and this was one of the coolest labels I have discovered to date!
The label was Fashion Frocks, and some research led me to an awesome Flickr collection about the brand which made my vintage-lovin' heart swell with excitement! Apparently Fashion Frocks was a company started in the 1920s out of Cincinnati, Ohio that employed housewives to sell clothing door-to-door to friends and neighbors.  They would carry around sample sale cards with pictures of the dresses, along with different color swatches and customization options.  I am sure the ladies would also be wearing their own Fashion Frocks as well! The company was closed by the mid 70s, and I think that this amazing little red gingham number I am wearing is from the mid to late 60s. You should definitely check out the beautiful sample cards from the Flickr set if you are at all interested in vintage!
This kind of stuff is what makes me really love having a vintage shop and working with second hand clothing.  Not only is it a greener way to shop, but when you think about the stories and the history that go along with a certain piece of clothing, its just amazing!  A housewife from the 60s showed this dress sample card to one of her neighbors, who fell in love with it and made the purchase.  Perhaps that lady kept it the whole time, or passed it on to her daughter.  Fifty years later, my mom found it in a small shop in Pennsylvania Dutch Country, and carried it with her on a plane to Colorado for me.  I then cleaned it, shortened the hem a few inches, wore it out myself one weekend, and then listed it in an online marketplace.  Within a week, it was bought by another young lady in San Francisco, and its journey will thus continue!
Do you guys ever imagine the stories behind pieces you find?

Meow Mix

What better way to start a Friday than with an overload of cats!  I'll be honest, I have been lusting after other bloggers' kitty-ears rings for quite some time now, and I am so happy to have my own now from Oasap! I decided to go all out and wear my cat blouse underneath a vintage dress, because hey, why not?  I think I may look a bit crazy, but I guess most cat ladies are, right?
Outfit Details:
Dress: Vintage- in shop soon!
Cat Ring - c/o Oasap
Cat Blouse - c/o American Apparel
Belt & Necklace: F21
Tights: Target
Booties - MIA via DSW
So, do you guys remember how earlier this week I said that all of my images shot from last weekend got corrupted and turned completely black?  I woke up early and re-took both the outfit pictures and my shop listing pictures before work one day this week.  They uploaded just fine later that night.  Then, when I was editing them in iPhoto, I clicked to one of the black ones and it suddenly appeared! These images that you see are from the lost files. So frustrating re-doing everything and then finding out the originals ARE there, however, I like the originals better so I guess all is okay in the end.  Technology is sometimes just the worst.
Do you guys have any fun plans for the weekend?  I have a bunch of stuff to get done, but plan on going to a fun anniversary party for a local brewery too.  Today after work I am headed off to a thrift store a little ways away and can't wait to stock up on new goodies for the shop!
Happy Friday!
