The Novelty of Summer

Hi guys!  I decided to wake up and go on a bike ride exploring my new neighborhood this morning instead of writing a blog post.  Judging from my general improved mood today, I'd say this was a good decision!

Outfit Details:
Dress - borrowed from Sammi
Jelly Sandals - vintage from the shop (sold)
Hat - Brixton
Sunnies - Lulu*s
Scarf - Vintage/ gift

I feel like a broken record whenever I talk about Sammi of The Soubrette Brunette on here, but she seriously is just the sweetest gal with a killer wardrobe!  I borrowed this novelty print dress with vintage cars and records on it, and used R's little Miata as the backdrop for these photos.

Anyway, my to-do list is a million miles long, I want to get so much done!  Hope you all have a beautiful weekend!

Here Kitty Kitty

Hump Day is always a hard day of the week for me to get through.  Want to know what makes it better though?  The fact that there are cats all over my shirt!  I should probably mention, for the sake of full blog disclosure, that I am a certified crazy cat lady. If it involves cats, I'm there. These photos were actually taken this weekend, but I have barely taken this shirt off since I got it since its so light and comfortable.  The heat is coming back here in full force again, so sheer, breathable fabrics are an absolute must!
*Update: I am hosting a giveaway over on the Shades of Monet blog  for a $40 gift certificate to my vintage shop! All you have to do is be a follower of this blog and say what your favorite item from the shop is. Hooray! Check it out here, I would absolutely love for one of my readers to win it!

Outfit Details:
Sunglasses: c/o American Apparel, find them here
Shoes: c/o American Apparel, find them here
Blouse: c/o American Apparel, find it here
Jewelry: Vintage
Head Scarf: Vintage
Skirt: unsure-old

Thanks to American Apparel, I got to try out some awesome items from their store, including the oversized blouse, sunnies, and shoes.  All of their clothes are made right here in the U.S. and are sweatshop free, which is a huge double win in my book.  I cannot tell you how long I have been searching for a pair of oxford style shoes that are actually comfortable.  I am loving that I was able to walk around all day in these and bike to work in them! Also, I really like when a shoe can be worn really casually or a little dressier, and these babies definitely fit the bill for work or play.
Not that I usually have to bribe R to be my photographer or anything *cough*, but the fact that there was this amazing vintage 1960s mustang sitting on the street really didn't hurt my cause this time.  It was parked in a neighborhood of modern, primary-hued apartments, and I thought it would work great as a backdrop for this outfit.  I wanted to mix things up a little bit, since my outfits lately all seem to be some sort of pastel or flowery article of clothing against the backdrop of nature. Don't fret though, I also got some mint colored jeans and a lavender dress as to not throw you for too much of a loop!
Hope you guys are having a beautiful day!
