Charcoal Alley

Happy Hump Day. Is it me or is this week crawling along slow as molasses!?  I think it is due to the fact that I finally joined a gym again and getting back into working out is always quite tortuous for me!  If I go before work, I feel extra tired at work all day and the day stretches on and on.  If I go after work, it cuts into my precious "down time".  How do you guys typically fit exercising into you busy schedules?!
Outfit Details: Dress & Blouse- Vintage // Boots: Marshalls (old) // Hat: Target

Enough whining from me.  All winter I have been loving any sort of jumper style dress that I can layer a blouse beneath.  I decided to give this charcoal grey maxi jumper a go before I took up the hem and put it in the shop!  The look is a bit out of the ordinary for me, but it was really comfy and appropriate to wear to work.  I can't wait to style the shortened version after I hem it too, it would be fun to see both looks side by side!
I decided to fore go my usual preference of nature backdrops to a more appropriate one for this sort of 90s grunge look.  There are a bunch of cool little alleyways between buildings here in downtown boulder and I love all the brick and signs for old storefronts! And you all know how I like to match my outfits to my surroundings!
Anyway, hope your work week (or school week) is flying by a bit faster than mine!

  1. I really dig the pattern on that top! Yeah, working out is rough. I've been doing it 6 days a week for almost 3 months and it's hard to find motivation. I know it's silly, but I give myself a smiley face on my calendar when I work out. I feel so accomplished when my month is filled with smiley faces!

  2. I don't like going to the gym in the morning unless it's my day off, then it wakes me up. I usually go straight from work in the evening, but for me it is my "Me time" and helps me relax
I love this look, the pattern is fantastic, and looks so great with that jumper dress :)

  3. Love that dress...it's so cute! I used to work out in the mornings, but have found working out in the early evenings to be more fulfilling. It definitely helps me to decompress after work.

  4. Way to get back into working out!
I've signed up for two work out classes so its a part of my schedule lol. Although I used to just go after school, so I know what you mean about cutting into down time. Hope you find a way to balance it out!

  6. My week is totally dragging on too! I'm just so dang tired! I've been working out lots too, I usually go after work. It's better if I can get my Hubby to go with me and then it doesn't cut into our together time!
This is such a neat little spot, I love these pictures! pretty blouse, I love how you layered this.

  7. We're thinking of going at lunch - but we'll see how that goes. It's really hard to go after work with the dogs and what not, we go on runs after work a lot, but going to the gym is a whole ordeal. I love this spot for photos -your twown seems to have all the best things. That first photo with the street number is so cool. And the blouse and jumper are great together - the jumper looks like the kind my sister used to wear in college!

  10. Good luck at the gym Hannah! The reason I don't go to one (I work out at home) is because I enjoy my 3 full hours when I'm home alone. The gym would definitely cut into that time haha! I think you look cute in that jumper ♥

  11. oh god, i'm exactly the same when it comes to exercise - i spend so much time at work or traveling to or from work or i go out after work for dinner or to a gig or something, i just don't have the time to go to the gym or turn down plans with friends because of the gym! i just can't do it! haha. also as a side note i love your pinafore!!

  12. THe backdrop really does work well with this outfit and enhances things, I think. The jumper style is not really one I've tried before but I like this grunge/boho version you have here.

  16. wow that alleyway is awesome! you got great pics of and in it! i love the grundge look on you and hmm i havent worked out since i started grad school and go straight to class from work but over the summer i would go right after & then had no excuse. did def cut into down time but i would arrive home super energized instead of drained. working out in the am also means i'm exhausted by mid day.
