Dockside in Cozumel

Hi Guys! Are you ready for another round of Cozumel pictures? I sure hope so, because there's a lot more where that came from! This is also the second post in a row where you get a little snippet of seeing R on the blog, pretty exciting stuff huh?  He's a little shy and usually prefers to remain behind the scenes, but since he is who I was traveling with I thought he should make an appearance.  Also, I am always lagging behind him taking pictures of everything I see, so most of my pictures are of his back while he is walking ahead of me. He walks at a normal pace. I stop every 30 feet, snap a few pictures, sprint to catch up, and repeat.

    So, I was hesitant to really put bathing suit pictures up on ye olde' internet for the whole free world to see, but come on guys, this is literally what I was wearing for 90% of my time there.  You can't take yourself too seriously! Most of these were taken on the two piers right off the beach of our hotel.  The water was so clear that you didn't even need to put a snorkel mask on to see all the fish, you could just peer off the dock.  There were also some bird friends who you can see my thoroughly harassing.
    On that note, and in honor of not taking yourself too seriously, I will leave you with this photo.  This is what most of the outtakes that I don't choose to include on the blog look like- really really really good looking. Also, there's a bird on my head.

Cactus Flowers

     A kind of strange, mellow weekend it has been.  Up until Friday evening, I thought I was working a promotional event the whole weekend.  I spent the whole week mentally preparing myself for not having a weekend, so I was slightly put off by finding out my event isn't until next weekend! That means tomorrow is actually the start of the twelve days in a row of work...so hooray for that.  I know I should have just reveled in the fact that I actually had a weekend, but do you ever have those days where you feel something is ruined for the sole fact that what you thought would happened didn't?

    Why all the work you may be wondering.  Well you see, at the end of May R and I bought a groupon to go to an all-inclusive resort in Cozumel in a fit of vacation depravity.  I actually lived in Mexico in a small fishing village in Baja California Sur for five months while studying at the School for Field studies, so Mexico holds a very special place in my heart!  Cozumel is way more touristy than the Mexico I know, but I have a feeling it will be no less beautiful.  It is now a little under a month away so I can really start to get excited about it! That said, I don't exactly have lots of extra cash lying around, so I am working full time at my regular job and then picking up a few weekends at a different job to try to pay off my credit card bill for my plane ticket, etc.!  So, even though I may be complaining about some long hours in the near future, know that it is a means to and end, and the end just happens to be pristine sandy beaches, ancient Mayan ruins, snorkeling with tropical fish, and all you can eat and drink for four days! 

       These photos were taken yesterday and I am loving the stark contrast of sorbet colored pastels against the dry Coloradan landscape.  American Apparel sent over this beautiful lilac hued dress and I am totally loving it!  The top is sheer lace cutouts, and I really like that you can change the whole look of it depending on what color you choose to wear underneath.  It's fun and a little bit sexy without being too over the top.  I opted for bright pink underneath this time and whipped out some paper flowers I made awhile ago for a little touch of whimsy.  And speaking of whimsy, R thinks I am certifiably insane because I thought the mint green fire hydrant looked like an abstract cactus with the flowers on top? Can you see it?! No? Okay.  Well then he may be correct.

The Denim Desert

Happy Friday!

      No seriously, I am SO HAPPY its Friday!  And next week is the fourth, which means a day off smack dab in the middle of the week, which should be wonderful! I don't have any really exciting weekend plans but I do plan to hide at R's for most of the weekend so I can be in the air conditioning so I can spend quality time with him!  No seriously he has been pretty amazing this week, he helped me design all new business cards and other goodies for my vintage shop, which I will share with you guys soon!  They are so pretty and professional looking, and now I won't have to hand-make all the packaging supplies when I ship out an order like I have been doing for the past year!

     So, I now know the wonders of the "magic hour" for photography.  These were shot a little after 7pm and the lighting was so perfect.  I usually have to edit the lighting and contrast in my photos to make them look better, and these are pretty much as is!  I have been living in simple dresses almost every day because it's too hot for much of anything else and this simple H&M denim one I thrifted recently has been a favorite.

    Oh how could I forget, I forgot to ramble on about the weather in the beginning of the post! Wouldn't want to disappoint any of my readers so I will tell you about it now.  Actually though, the weather in Colorado has been insane! It is so hot and dry that we have been getting lightning in the evenings, which has been causing terrible wildfires all over the state.  For example, yesterday started with dry heat in the mid 90s, then turned into a torrential  downpour, shortly followed by a hail storm which ended with more lightning and more fires.  It has been pretty scary!  Are any of you having crazy weather where you are?
