Shop Update

Hi guys!  It's a busy busy week for me, but I just wanted to stop in for a quick shop update! I have been working hard to stock the shop with tons of vintage goodies for the upcoming holiday season.  Click the link below the image to be taken directly to the listing!
SOLD OUT!
A special thanks to my mom who brought a few of these beautiful pieces back from a vintage store in Pennsylvania Dutch Country for me! It was like early Christmas! Which one is your favorite, I would love to know!  It helps me decide what type of things to buy when I know what people like!
I am off to Breckenridge for a cabin weekend after work tomorrow, and after a week of crazy ten hour work days, I could not be more excited for friends, family, and relaxation! Hope you guys are having a great week so far!

Fall Festivities

Let me tell you, it only takes approximately one week of cold rainy or snowy weather to make you long for warmth again.  Yesterday provided a gloriously warm and sunny fall day that was much needed and appreciated. It is easy to take the sun for granted in Colorado, as usually even if it is cold, the sun is still shining bright; but not this past week.  However, if the weather could stay like it was yesterday forever, I would so be okay with that!
Outfit Details:
Shoes & Scarf: Vintage / thrifted
Tights: Marshalls
Jacket: J. Jill / thrifted
So, here is my obligatory blogger post at the pumpkin patch!  It was a madhouse there, as are most pumpkin patches on a beautiful Sunday in mid October I assume.  I am still glad we went, but it was missing the treats, like apple cider donuts, that I miss from the East coast. Or maybe that would be at an apple orchard, not a pumpkins patch...hmmm, that would make sense now that I'm thinking about it...  There was a dinky little corn maze we wandered through, some farm animals to oggle (including a white miniature pony that looked EXACTLY like unicorn missing its horn), oh yes, and kittens! I am not quite sure what they had to do with anything, but there was a large play cage with two adorable pumpkin-hued kittens with a sign saying they had been adopted, hooray!
I donned a comfy vintage rust colored dress (available in the shop) and a some polka dot tights for the occasion, and realized I didn't even need a jacket after a few minutes.  Also, I am not sure these shoes I thrifted last weekend are ever going to leave my feet ever again.  They are the perfect orangey-brown that you can pair with pretty much any color. Swoon. This week is going to be super busy for me because I am working my full time schedule in four days instead of five.  The reward will be a long weekend with R, my parents, and some awesome family friends spent in a beautiful cabin in Breckenridge!  It is also R's birthday weekend and I could not be looking forward to this little getaway any more!
I am also excited to announce that today is my very first post over on the Flock Together style blog.  If you would like to know a little bit more about me, or just want to see some pretty Colorado scenery, I would love if you stopped by to say hi!
Hope you're week is off to a great start!

The Double G

Hi guys! It's Friday! I started my day with a free latte and I'm wearing grizzly bear print leggings, so I don't think the day could go too badly.  I have a nice date planned for tonight with my brother (my Brother sewing machine, not my real life brother).  How cool am I on a Friday night?! But actually, I couldn't be more happy about my plans!  I am going to add so many goodies to my shop this weekend, I feel so behind on it and can't wait to get everything back on track.  I am also going to meet a new friend, go to a show with R and some friends from Denver, and catch up on sleep! What do you guys have planned for the weekend?
Outfit Details:
Gingham Dress: Vintage- for sale in the shop here!
Collar- Ampris Loves on Etsy
Hat: Gift
Boots: Marshalls (old)
In case you were wondering about the post title, The Double G is neither my new rap-superstar name nor a new extra large cup size, but stands for my two favorite things that I am wearing here: Gingham and the color Green!  Was that a let down? Sorry. Anyway, this dark olive color checkered with black is so perfect for fall, especially cozified (I made that word up) with some lined tights and a cardigan.  I am slightly devastated that its already the time of year where I have to throw off my jacket for a minute to snap a few pictures, smile wincingly (I apparently made that word up too, hmm), freeze, and then throw the jacket back on.  Oh well, the weather makes cozy nights in and delicious warm treats even better, so I guess there is always a trade off!
Also wanted to let you guys know that I was asked by the lovely Dusana to guest post over on her awesome blog Cuddly Cacti today while she is busy with exams!  I am sharing a few pictures and tips on how important it is to include some detail and scenery shots in your outfit posts as well to make it more interesting.  I would love it if you guys stopped by!
Happy Friday!

p.s Don't forget to head on over to our new collective style blog, Flock Together, to meet all the lovely ladies!

A Happy Post

Hi guys!
I know I have been a little MIA in the blogosphere and I apologize for that.  I always like to reply to all the comments left and love that blogging is such a reciprocal relationship, sometimes life just gets in the way of things! My parents were here visiting this weekend so my blog and shop fell to the wayside for a short while in exchange for getting to spend some quality time with them.  A pretty fair trade I would say! They left yesterday morning for their own road trip to Moab, Utah, and and some other fun adventures, and then will return (with my car!) late next week.  My mom snapped these pictures for me after work Monday on our way to happy hour!
Outfit Details:
Dress: Vintage, Gift
Scarf: DIY from a vintage dress: Tutorial here!
Shoes: Vintage/ thrifted (this weekend for only $3.50- LOVE!)
Belt/Tights: not sure
So, I received a really special gift in the mail early last week from my aunt Donna in Minnesota.  On my last trip there, I told some relatives about my love for vintage clothes, and my aunt surprised me with two amazing vintage dresses in the mail, and this is one of them!  I took up the hem I tiny bit and I am absolutely in love with the print and the pleated skirt! Even my dad, who does not care about fashion whatsoever, kept on telling me how pretty the dress was.  Thanks so much Aunt Donna, I LOVE THEM and it was so thoughtful of you! My mom insisted that I stand next to this berry tree for a snap or two and it was so funny getting some creative direction from them.  I included a picture of my parents too :)
My mom also brought with her two bags of vintage and thrifted goodies for me, some of which are for the shop, and some which are for myself!  I kid you not, there is a dress with cowboy fringe that has a cutout crochet heart on the back.  She got them all from a thrift store in Pennsylvania Dutch country and I am pretty sure I now own a combination of Annie Oakley's and some little Amish girl's wardrobes. My mom is now trying to shop only second hand as well and I think i have passed on my love (read: addiction) for thrifting to her.
In other happy news, I won a little giveaway over on the lovely Courtney's blog "Pretty Little Fawn" today for a Sticker Fashionista book.  I used to love sticker books and this one is 150 illustrated pages with stickers of pretty dresses, flowers, and kittens!  So excited to play around with it.  I only discovered Courtney's blog a few weeks ago, but she has amazing style and is absolutely adorable.  I highly recommend stopping by!  And speaking of stopping by, don't forget to head on over to the newly launched blogger collective I am a part of called Flock Together! All of the bloggers are doing fun introductions this week and you don't want to miss it!
Happy Wednesday and thank you all for being the best readers ever!

Chautauqua Park

Hi Guys!
Just stopping by to say hello! My parents are in town for two days, so I am just going to share a few pictures from a little hike I did this summer.  No fancy outfits here! I decided to share these because my parents are actually hiking at this place while I am at work today.  It is a beautiful park called Chautauqua, and the flatirons (the flat-faced mountains in the distance) are the most photographed image of Boulder! There are a bunch of different hikes to choose from, and then you can eat at the little restaurant at the base as well.  A definite must-see if you are ever in this town!
One more thing I would like to mention is the super exciting launch of a project I have been involved in! It is called Flock Together, and it is a collaborative blog with a few of my favorite style bloggers from all across the United States.  We are all remixing and swapping pieces from our own closets to show how a single piece can be worn a bunch of completely different ways by different stylish ladies!  We will also be doing person style posts, DIY projects, and a whole host of other fun things.  Stop by Flock Together today to say hi, and make sure to add it to your blog roll so you don't miss all of the exciting introductions happening every day this week.  You can click over to the Meet the Bloggers section for a little peak into all of the individuals who are going to be collaborating! Hope to see you there and hope you all had amazing weekends!

The Week of All-Seasons

In a far, far away land named 5pm, there lived a happy girl...

I am convinced that Friday minutes are not equivalent to the minutes that make up the other six days of the week.  Friday minutes crawl along at a painstakingly slow pace and 5pm always seems like a number so far in the distance it is seemingly unattainable. I swear those minutes I keep checking on the clock are not progressing at normal speed.  I read somewhere recently how everyone is always excited for Fridays and thinks it will be a really good day, while everyone undoubtedly hates Mondays and thinks it will be a terrible day. Makes sense to me.  It turned out in the study though, more people actually have bad Fridays, while Mondays are usually pretty easy and bearable.  Its all about your mindset people!
Outfits Details:
Shoes: Vintage/ thrifted
Sweater: GAP/ thrifted
Bracelets: The Plaid Barn
Socks: Target
I'll be honest with your guys, my mindset is pretty grumpy on this particular Friday, and try as I may I cannot seem to shake it.  I downed a delicious vanilla latte and a maple blueberry scone hoping to ease away the gloom, which did help for a good hour and a half, but their novelty (read: their sugar and caffeine) has since worn off.
The reason for all of this gloom is because Colorado decided to be in summer mode last weekend, then had approximately three beautiful days of fall, and then headed straight into winter yesterday. It was in the 30s all day, and I woke up to the trees outside my bedroom adorned with a white layer of snow on them this morning.  Snow is simply not acceptable to me right now.  Snow is only acceptable after Halloween, and if and only if it meets the following criteria:
1. It cancels something that I didn't want do.
2. I do not need to leave my house.
3. I have a mass supply of delicious food already stored in the cupboard.
These photos now feel a little deceptive to me, as they were taken this Sunday on a nice 85 degree bike ride to the park.  I was angry that I had SOCKS on because it was so hot out. Yup, be careful what you wish for!  Anyway, its not all bad.  I am snuggled into my desk in fuzzy parka, scarf, and lined tights which are quite warm and comfy, and I have a fun weekend ahead of me!  I hope to see a good friend in Denver I haven't seen in way too long for Brunch, go on a vintage haul for my shop, and my parents arrive on Sunday!  My mom is even bringing a whole bag of vintage she found while thrifting for me, hooray!
So, I will leave you guys on that happy note.
