Banana Boat

My very first outfit post taken in my new back yard!  The perks of working from home include being able to wear whatever I want, so if I want to dress like a tropical banana boat, so be it.

Outfit Details
Striped Parrot Tee - c/o Oasap
Green Skirt - c/o Oasap
Heart Sunnies - c/o Oasap
Gladiator Sandals - hand me down, Mom
Boater Hat - vintage/ thrifted

I definitely felt like making some sort of fruity summer cocktail while wearing this.  Or maybe like I WAS the fruity summer cocktail?  I just got this striped tee covered in parrots in the mail along with the heart sunnies and green skirt, and thought why not wear them all at once!  So much fun! R thinks I have questionable judgement.

Anyway, having a private outdoor area to be able to take some outfit photos in will definitely be nice! The rampant mosquitos, however, not so much.  Do any of you have a backyard with lots of mosquitos? What are some things that you have done, short of dousing yourselves in chemicals, that have helped?  Any tips would be much appreciated!

Have a wonderful day!
xo Hannah

  3. I commend your "questionable judgement" :) Cheers to not having to abide by a professional dress code and dressing as colorfully as you please!

  4. Ha! I would not have thought "banana boat" but now that you mention it, I had to go find that song- you know, the "Mr. Tally Man, I wanna go home" one.

Glad you are enjoying the backyard. Unfortunately, not much advise for the mosquitos. You can buy tapers that you burn (like as torches, so when you are out there with them) that repel them.

    1. Kristian, Rob and I have had that song in our heads for about 2 months now! Good luck, because now it won't leave your head! :) Thanks for the torch tips!

  5. I haven't tried it myself, but I've heard good things about combinations of rosemary and mint, I believe it is (lemongrass too?). If you're able to grow them anywhere in your backyard or pots nearby, they might help! Love all the bright colors!!!

  6. In my experience, if you tough it out with the mosquitoes for a little while and prevent yourself from scratching through force of will, the venom stops affecting you so much. There's definitely a week or so of terrible, though :(

  8. Cute outfit, I especially love the sunglasses! The only way I can combat the mosquitoes is to wear loads of bug spray. But I cannot stand how it smells so I always have to jump in the shower as soon as I come in :P

  9. What a lovely outfit! Very refreshing.

Try planting citronella. It naturally repels mosquitoes and smells nice too. I'm from the tropics and mosquitoes are definitely a constant problem to us. Getting rid of empty bottles and jars that might collect water when it rains helps a lot too as mosquitoes like to lay eggs there. Hope this helps! ♡

  12. Love the sunglasses! I've wanted my own pair of heart sunglasses for awhile but never get around to it. Maybe this will be the summer! I loved having a yard to take pictures when I visited my parents, yours makes a nice backdrop too!
