Fall Shop Update!

There are so many thing I love in the shop right now.  I guess that's what happens when you're the curator ;)
I picked some of my favorites to show you what you can find over at The Braided Bandit Vintage right now!

As some of you may know, I will hopefully be transitioning to running my vintage shop full time in early October which I am super excited about! The project I have been working on at the Environmental Consulting firm is finally wrapping up after two years, so I figure what better time then now to give my dream job a go!  Now only to make my tiny studio apartment have the capacity to hold at least double the amount of vintage I have now. Ikea storage solutions, here I come!
I also wanted to announce that the winner of The Vintage Fashion Journal giveaway is the darling Laura of Thrifting Through Life.  I will be contacting you shortly to get your address for Laurence King Publishing to send you your own copy of the journal :)
Hope everyone is having a good week!

Violet Floral

Layering a blouse under a comfy sleeveless dress is pretty much my favorite thing to wear right now.  I love that it can be transitioned into fall with a long sleeve blouse and tights as well! Blogging really has made me realize the potential of certain pieces of clothing, as I would never have thought of a sleeveless dress as a "jumper" for layering a few years ago.  So thank you creative friends!

Outfit Details: Dress - Vintage from the shop here! // Blouse - c/o August Wrinkle //
Booties - thrifted // Owl Ring - gift from Marisa

This weekend was a good one even though I did nothing particularly exciting.  Saturday I tried a new to me brunch spot in Denver called Jelly.  I would highly recommend it! My friend and I shared mini donuts as an appetizer and I got veggie Eggs Benedict which is my go-to brunch item of choice.  I then went on a pretty epic thrifting trip to find pretty vintage for my shop.  Let's just say I got pretttty lucky as someone must have JUST donated a bunch of gorgeous 1950s and 60s dresses.  They may get a post of their very own this week as they are too pretty not to share.  Now I just need to fight my inherent urge to hoard them for myself to hang on my bedroom wall just to look at all the time.  I do that now with one particularly pretty vintage dress I got from Marisa's shop Allyhoot vintage a little while ago! And speaking of Marisa, she gifted me this darling owl ring too!
I hope you guys are having a great start to your week! Keep on eye on the shop as I will be adding tons of new stuff over the next week!

Heart on your Sleeve

Friday, thank goodness you are here.

Outfit Details: Sweater - c/o Oasap // Skirt - c/o Oasap // Shoes - Vintage, thrifted //
Socks - Target // Headband - DIY

I am in love with this sweater from Oasap with hearts on the elbows!  I wore this last weekend when it was a tiny bit cooler, but now its back to the very high 80s here and I would be sweltering wearing it.
In other news, I got a new foster kitty the other day and she is a total sweetheart! You can see her over on my instagram and I'll probably do a post about her later.  Her name is Pookie and she will be living with me until she finds a good home!
Lastly, I would like to wish my parents a happy 40th wedding anniversary tomorrow, WOAH! They are actually in Italy right now for a whole month traveling around with friends, so I think they have the celebratory part taken care of! My mom actually reads my blog, so if you want you can wish her a happy anniversary in the comments I'm sure she would love that! (Uhm, you can wish my dad one too, but he will never see it) :)
Hope you guys have a wonderful weekend!

Watermelon Fresca

Two things of note here. One is that I am wearing actual leggings-as-pants on the blog (gasp), and the second is that there is a huge slice of grunge-inspired watermelon on my top. I look like I cloned a small 90s girl-child version of myself. An 8 year old Hannah from 1994 would totally approve! And while I am typically not really embracing the whole teenagers doing a huge 90s grunge revival thing I'm seeing everywhere, I AM embracing my watermelon top because it makes me happy!

Outfit Details: Watermelong Tank - c/o Chicnova // Mary Jane Flats - c/o Sole Provisions // Sunglasses - Target // Leggings - Ross

I seriously wore it for days upon its arrival, only taking it off to put on work clothes and throwing it back on as soon as I got home.  As for the leggings, my basic leggings-in- public rule (for myself) is that its fine as long as my shirt is long enough to fully cover my butt! Let's just say I have seen one too many awkward semi sheer but unknowing panty-lined legging bottoms around town. Anyone else? I love being comfortable but I don't like see-through butts. Also, it should be noted that my long top & leggings rule does not apply when actually wearing spandex to perform physical activity. If you want to wear your yoga hot-pants with a teeny sports bra and sweat it out, I say YOU GO FOR IT GIRL!
One more thing of note about this outfit is my new Mary Jane flats from Sole Provisions! I wanted to wear them to work and around town for a few days before giving you my honest opinion on them since I was sent them to review.   So, I am one to usually go for the cheap and trendy shoe over one that is actually comfortable and will last a long time, but recently I have been learning the error of my ways.  These flats give me a little added height with their platform base but still have a really supportive sole, and the wide elastic strap makes for the perfect fit.  Seriously, its like my feet are getting a hug.  Not a too tight hug from your great Aunt Gertrude and not a faux light pat on the back hug from a girl you couldn't stand in high school but ran into at the bar, but an actual nice hug.
My true test of a shoe is if I can wear them on my very brisk walk across town to the post office over my lunch break to mail out orders and not have sore feet by the time I get back to the office.  Shoes that I think are comfortable normally always disappoint me on this walk (I'm looking at you oxfords and boat shoes!) I've got to say, these FitFlop Mary Janes passed the test with flying colors and didn't rub my ankle like all of my other flats do while walking longer distances.  Anyway, I am super excited to pair these with tights or knee highs and dresses come fall. And I had my first pumpkin spice latte yesterday, so it MUST be getting close to that time again!
Hope you are all having a wonderful day!

Friday's Favorite Finds {Vol. 5}

Here's what caught my eye this week!
There's are a ton of cute and cozy low key looks in J Crew's Fall Style Guide Sneak Peak on pinterest!

Have you guys heard about Etsy's new review system that launched this week? For all of you who sell or shop on Etsy its an interesting read.  Basically, buyers won't get feedback rating anymore, just sellers, and instead of being broken up into just "positive" or "negative" feedback, you give a rating out of 5 stars.  Though I am still getting a feel for the new system, I think in the long run it will be a good change.  And speaking of Etsy, I am starting to list lots of pretty vintage shoes in the shop for fall!

I want to wear this bootie from Modcloth with cozy sweaters every day this fall!

Like this gradient color one from Oasap! It comes in green, blue, and maroon and I can't decide which one I like best!

If I ever actually cooked, I would attempt to make this delicious looking Salted Honey and Fig Cheesecake! YUM!

Though I'm not ready to give up summer weather quite yet, I have to admit I have been browsing cute winter coats already! This one from Persunmall is pretty high up on my list!

The lovely people over at Laurence King Publishing sent over a The Simple Dress Book and The Stylish Dress book for me to try out! They have so many gorgeous and inspiring sewing patterns and I can't wait to share an upcoming DIY project from one of them!

Hope you guys have a great long weekend if you're in the US!
